If you don't mind me asking.

My GP didn't charge anything at the time but I know that he did start to charge afterwards. About £60 iirc.

Mine charges £95, and I think that's a lot. I now need to find £95 before I can proceed with my registration.

Saltire

My GP charged 20 quid, I am gobsmacked at £95.

Think mine was £65 and I kicked up about that, it's disgusting, we're providing a community service (ok so it's a business blabla but honestly, we do actually provide a needed service too). Oh, and my Dr didn't actually fill it in, the receptionist filled mine in, I checked it and noticed no signature so she grabbed a Dr to sign it. Really earnt their £65 eh!!

Rubybees · 14/09/2007 13:37

Crikey mine I paid mine £16 and they sent it off recorded delivery! ( this was in 2004)

nannynick · 14/09/2007 18:27

There is a maximum limit, used to know it but can't recall now - think it could have been £150. I've not had to get a medial form done, so luckily as yet I've not had to pay my GP to fill out a form.

Make sure you keep the receipt and write it off against first year profits. You could also always try challenging the amount - and calling in trading standards, as does £95 represent the true cost of a Dr spending say 30 minutes filling out a form!

My last medical report, for the Care Commission was done by the military doctors (which was what we all used) and they never charged a penny.
When I registered in 2000/2001 I can't remember if I got a medical done, it was just on the changeover from Social Services to OFSTED.
I'm still in a state of shock and it means I have to delay putting my application in as I don't have a spare £95 at the minute.
I am goin to see Doc on monday about something else and will ask what the procedure is for filling in the forms, wether they actually do it, or does the receptionist do it

I was sure the max when I red'd was £65 (what I was charged) but it could have changed. And mine was a receptionist, not right is it!!!

hickory · 14/09/2007 19:04

Mine chqarged £50 and they missed out a signature and had to have it returned to them!

Slubberdegullion · 14/09/2007 19:15

DH (a GP just spotted this)...nosing on MN what a cheek.

Anyway this is the advice from the BMA copied and pasted.

Miscellaneous agreed fees
Childminders
The responsibility for the regulation of childminding and day care for children under eight transferred from local authorities to the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) from 2001. In order for people to be registered as childminders OFSTED must check on their suitability. The GP fee for the completion of the required form will be paid either by the intended childminder, the person in charge or the employer. OFSTED is not responsible for paying this fee.

Effective date: 1 October 2006

Completion of childminder health form

£82.00

Note: This fee is paid by the childminder, person in charge, or employer

Hi,

Sorry I haven't posted on here for ages.

I was registered in 2003-although didn't start minding til 2004-and my GP charged £80. Couldn't believe it when all he had to do was just sign the form!

I did have a grant for £200 and this was spent on the above form and safety film to cover my husband's greenhouse-from which he wont be parted! I had hoped to be able to buy at least a few toys with it.

mogs0 · 16/09/2007 12:54

My GP did it for free but did take ages and the recepcionist filled it out wrong!!

I didn't even think about having to have this re-done if you move. I'm moving from England to Wales at the end of the year and I don't think anyone has mentioned health declaration to me, just crb and child protection, oh and another bloomin briefing session!!!!

StrawberryMartini · 16/09/2007 12:58

Mine tried to charge £70 but I wrote him a nice letter saying how things were a bit difficult at the mo and he rang me up to say he'd only charge £35! Always worth asking!!

edker · 17/09/2007 15:20

my GP charged £25
