Just after some advice really - I'll try to be brief!
Both keyworkers dp and I
2 kids aged 2 and 4, receiving 30hr funding for 4 year old she's 5 in November

So my 30hrs is split between a nursery and my Cm
I pay the CM for the 2 year old

Nursery is closed and CM not working owing to her husbands underlying health conditions

We need some childcare - I've found another childminder but can't afford to pay for 2 kids as my 30 hrs is deposited with original cm and nursery

aIBU to take the hours off them if they aren't working???

I don't think that's unreasonable. If it's possible to use your hours elsewhere then you should.

You would need to speak to your local authority, I think most funding will follow the child IF the new provider is not already getting some funding from a child who is not attending as there parents are not Keyworkers. Providers are expect to use any funding paid to them for any keyworkers child that they are receiving for children not in attendance.

Talk to your local council. Ours are not transferring payments and have told us to check that settings have not already claimed for children if they attended a setting last term.

Have you spoken to your local authority @Hellokitty82? What have they said. I know there was a similar situation here, cm had funded 30hours for 4 year old, but decided to shut to home school her dc. Parent was a single parent in the nhs. Cm was refusing to ‘release’ the hours for another setting to use them and quoted what the LA had sAid originally about not clawingback any funding money from settings. I’m unsure what the outcome was tbh, but you are certainly not alone with this issue.

First advice would be to speak to your local authority who have been given the role of coordinating childcare to make sure all key workers have the childcare places they need. If you can find a telephone number for your local early years funding team, they might also be able to help if they will speak to a parent. See what they say and take it from there.
