What happens when friends visit and you are a CM?

If you are a registered CM and a friend comes to stay (adult friend, not a friend of your child) how do you go about it? Would you have to get a CRB check, or hide them away in another room until all the children have gone home?

I always thought that it was the responsbility of a CM to make sure that the mindees were not left alone with anyone - even for a minute, that isn't CRB checked

From a personal perspecitve, this is why I didn't go for a CM for DS- they are all checked but what about any visitors or relatives they may have?!

I think they have to have people checked who come into contact with the children too. I was just wondering what CMs did, in this situation.

ILs used to have to have me police checked. theyu foster and because i stayed over i needed to be official. Now that i am an occasional visitor i don't need to be checked

If I have a non-childminder friend come round (errm that will be my one friend then lol) she signs in the visitor book. Her dd amd ds also come. Not everyone want to be a childminder but still wants there children to play. I just ensure that they aren't left alone, of which is funny to have to discuss with good friend but- a good friend will understand that this is your job

Occasional visitors do not require a CRB check but they must never be left alone with any children. This applies in a variety of childcare settings - childminders, nurseries, pre-schools etc.

Regular visitors (those who are visiting say for 30days plus a year) should be CRB checked if it is possible to arrange that. Nurseries are responsible for arranging CRB checks themselves, Childminders will have to try to go via Ofsted, though I don't know if funding exists for CRB checks for such visitors so you may get charged the appropriate fees.
