Self isolation and nannies

So DH and I are both in critical roles for our employer and I would be classed as a key worker but we can both work from home and have been doing.

We have a lovely nanny. Eldest has today come down with a temperature she's OK but a bit up and down (playing and then wanting a cuddle/ lie down).

I think I have to tell the nanny that we need to self isolate for two weeks and she shouldn't come in. We will pay her in full of course.

I'm just terrified - we can't work without childcare as youngest is a toddler and we are both overwhelmed with work. I know others are in a similar situation and we're lucky to have childcare outside of this but feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Sorry you are feeling overwhelmed.
I'm a nanny and my family have been self isolating as they have been ill. Fever, cough etc.
I have 14 days off. The association of nanny agencies and the Nannytax payroll company are recommending you pay in full.
If you are not getting paid yourself then maybe it is different.
Remember you are self isolating for a good reason, protecting others and slowing transmission of the virus.
You will have to accept that for 14 days you won't be able to work at full capacity.
Can you tag team between you both? Work when the children as asleep in the evening?
For the children have a routine.
If you have older children sit down and plan with them.
Include, garden time, PE inside, music time, numbers, craft, quiet time. Lots of ideas on social media.
These are difficult times. Take the positive slant of being able to spend close time with your children. They will always remember this part of their lives.
Hope you all feel better soon.

Chances are you're all going to go down with it soon, take sick leave if you need to. Hopefully you can all get through it together and then should be ok going forward.
