Hey all
I have messaged PACEY but I’m aware it could take a few days for them to reply so wanted to ask people on here also.
I have public liability and employers insurance, should we have to close would my insurance cover loss of earnings?
I have read my policy but it’s full of jargon and I’m unsure. I think if my employee got coronavirus I would be covered but I’m not sure whether we would be if I got it, or if any of the children got it?
If anyone can offer any clarity I would appreciate it

I think everyone is still trying to work out whether any of the insurance companies will pay out.

You have the basic insurance for your line of work which is also legally required. I very much doubt you will have any cover for coronavirus in your policy. The public liability and employers liability insurance are to protect you against claims not protect your income unfortunately. It's a specialist insurance which I doubt would even of crossed your mind to purchase.

Pacey emailed me back to say that there will be some circumstances where they pay out. If myself or my employee become ill then the business interruption cover I have will make up for loss of earnings.
If we are forced to close, like Italy are closing all schools and unis, then we won’t be protected.
Hopefully it doesn’t come to that!
ThNk you both for replying though

I’m on the champagne and lemonade Facebook group which has a lot of nursery owners on and I couldn’t figure out why they were all asking if their insurance would pay out, but I’ve clicked now, they want to check if their insurance will pay the fees that the parents aren’t going to if the nursery has to close.

I have the basic PACEY insurance and I see no reason why that would pay out if I have to close. I would assume if I wanted that level of cover I would have to pay a higher premium each year.
What are the circumstances that PACEY are saying they will pay out for? Is that because you have the business interruption cover?

Maryann1975 yes precisely because I pay extra for the business interruption cover.
