Back to work today... at least I get to start an hour later than usual. Weather looks like it may be nice, so may take the children to the Lookout (Bracknell), for picnic and to play in the playground and woods. Oldest starts school tomorrow, 2nd oldest begins school (she's 4) on Wednesday.

Shoshable · 03/09/2007 08:06

Morning. I've got baby in plaster and 8yr old boy today. Both adore each other, but he's a bit nervous of her atm! I made dd get up, washed and dressed at 6.45 today! Meanie mummy, I hear you cry! Gotta get that routine in place for Wednesday! And I must finish sewing the badge on her blazer too!

KaySamuels · 03/09/2007 08:07

Morning.

I had a really lovely weekend, dp has been a star kept me totally busy to keep my mind off things.

Just got baby here today - back to school tomorrow here, I have been really quiet in the holidays and will have mindees from tomorrow. Will be glad to have the school routine to work around again.

KaySamuels · 03/09/2007 08:09

MML I salute your organisation skills!

Katymac · 03/09/2007 08:21

Busy, Busy day today

DH's birthday

DD back at school tomorrow

& we have 10 children today (but only 6 under 5)

MaureenMLove · 03/09/2007 08:23

I had one once, who turned up 15 minutes from school time, with long thick hair soaking wet. Mum said she didn't have time to dry it because she would miss her train! I sent her away again and told her better that just one lady missed her train, than 4 children getting black marks for being late!

MaureenMLove · 03/09/2007 08:39

LOL @ only 6 under 5! Oh thats ok then!

Katymac · 03/09/2007 08:42

TTD last September I had 10 under 5

Now THAT was hard

Shoshable · 03/09/2007 08:55

Ive a lovely easy term (even if it means less oney) cos my 4 year old start has started school. but is only going mornings till January so I will only have 18month and 8 month old mindees at home in the mornings.

My terms shaping up quite well too. I've only got one 6am start a week now. Shame its a Friday, which is also my latest finish. Mindee who was in dd's class is thankfully not coming back this year either! He's a great lad, but yr 6's tend to get a bit too big for their boots by the end of term. He's off to senior school, so its just his brother coming now.

OFSTEDoutstanding · 03/09/2007 13:54

sounds like things have picked up again for you katymac. I am having half hours peace all mine back to school or having last couple days off with parents and lo's are all asleep at same time. Started with new mindee today now have 3 under 2, going to be fun!!!

saltire · 03/09/2007 13:57

Maureen I used to hate it when I worked late on a Friday, especially if I had an early start. i was used to military families who usually finsih early on Fridays, but one mindee wasn't military so his mum often didn't get to me until 7pm.
I remember starting a joeky thread about it and getting jumped on by all these non-childminders who were irate at my comments!

Shoshable · 03/09/2007 14:01

If I work past 3.00 on a Friday I'm mos put out!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone

Shoshable - what time did the kids turn up in the end? Didn't expect breakfast did they? So annoying!

nannynick - Oh, wish I'd known you were going to the lookout, I would have asked if we could meet up as I've not been to the Lookout yet but been intending to go!

Mo - How's it been with the baby in plaster?

KaySamuels - pleased you had a nice weekend and managed to take your mind off things. Have you heard anything since doing the letter? Yes, I feel the same about getting back into routine. I think I'm going to have trouble getting ds ready in time but he is excited about going back so fingers crossed he'll surprise me and be good at getting ready

Katymac - so pleased things are picking up for you!

OFSTEDoutstanding - sounds like fun

Oh phew......I was typing this whilst my poor teething baby mindee was crying in her cot. I hate leaving her but I tried all the comforting things and she was fighting to get out of my arms and play but she's soooo tired (just started crawling), it will be a nightmare later if she doesn't sleep. Well....she's JUST stopped crying so fingers crossed she'll sleep as I want to make a sausage casserole whilst her and her sister have a nap!

After a bit of advice.......do you ask/tell parents when you have appointments to attend? I've always run it by the parents or just arranged for when I'm free but these days that is very rare, some of you know I should have had time to myself last week but it all went tits up! Anyway, on Friday I told double pay baby's mum that I'm having a series of blood tests done and one has to be on 14th Sept. I said I'd picked the best time I could get for fitting in with baby's routine. She was fine but started asking questions and I managed to get away without answering. WWYD in this situation? I don't feel I can just go to these appointments without mentioning as it doesn't seem right but I felt really awkward when asked if everything was ok. Tips needed on answering without sounding rude?

Right, off to get some fruit for ds and make this casserole before they wake up!

eleanorsmum · 03/09/2007 15:00

hi looneytune and nannynick. i've just had my ofstead pre-reg visit and i live in bracknell too. saw you both mention the look out, are you local? it'd be great to meet up and get some minding tips from you!

looneytune · 03/09/2007 15:07

Hello How did it go? We're not in Bracknell but not too far away. I'm in Reading but know Bracknell well as my sister used to live in Wild Ridings. Nannynick is from Surrey. I'd be very happy to meet up with you but it can get very hard for me to get away as once the kids are back at school I'm in/out/in/out/in/out. I always find it easier for people to come to me as there's never enough time between things to go too far away - also appreciate this could be the same for you. Otherwise, there's always the holidays!

MaureenMLove · 03/09/2007 15:09

I think I was on that thread Saltire! Someone got really arsey about us! Baby is plaster is absolutely fine LT. Only slight problem today, is that she left her favourite teddy at home. So, we've had a coupleof sticky moments, but mindee 8 is doing a sterling job making her laugh! I can't express how hilerious she is being really! Its amazing, and makes life so easy!

eleanorsmum · 03/09/2007 15:11

thanks, it went well got told i'd be ok for 6 children less my own dd age 3 so am really escited about getting going now. can i ask if you have a website? thinking of doing one and just wondered if they were any good in getting people?
