Nanny payroll company for self employed

To start I want to make it clear that I am employed as a nanny and have NO thoughts to become self employed.
However, in addition to my employed work, I would really like to branch to nannying at events, overnight etc... but I really don't want to have to deal with sorting my own tax out. I was wondering if anyone is able to point me in the right direction and knows of a nanny payroll company who I could pay myself to sort out my self employed tax etc...?! Thank you!

It would not be a nanny payroll company. A local book keeper may be sufficient for your need or a local accountant.

Why don't you just phone nannytax and ask if it's something they can do. However bear in mind that HMRC is incredibly aggressive about self employment, so even if the work is occasional and for loads of different people, they could still say it's employment. To pass their really vague bar for self employment, you have to prove:

  1. That you use your own equipment and pay for it
  2. That you have control over the way in which you deliver work to the client
  3. That you run the risk of making a loss, eg. that you would have to correct any mistakes in your own time without additional charge
  4. That you are not "part and parcel" of the organisation and fulfilling a role that permanent employees also do
On that basis, it's really hard to make the case, because HMRC could say that even if the work is occasional, then if it's done through an agency, the agency is your employer..therefore they should operate PAYE. Another way of doing it if you have any income that is not PAYE for whatever reason (and has gone into your bank account, i.e. is traceable) is just to voluntarily fill in a self assessment form and state the additional pay. It's really easy to do online and the form will just tell you what you owe.

It’s really very easy to do yourself - add up income. Take off expenses. Put two figures into box online. They work out if you pay anything

Or use an accountant
