No really glad you had a lovely time, but ouch, flying with sore ears cant have been much fun.

(my mindee that starts reception is lucky to have seen out the holidays,, they are soooooooooo ready for school).

crace · 28/08/2007 09:26

PC - blech - glad you had a great time on hols but hmph

Hi Shosha!

Busy day here, and then my 25 week old baby starts full time tomorrow. I am not sure if anyone can help but he kicks up a fuss every time it's time for a sleep - and he's only do 30 mins at a go every 2 hours or so. So every 1.5 hours I get a screaming fit which is hard to do juggling two toddlers! Any advice?

maureenmlove · 28/08/2007 09:51

Hello, I'm back too! We decided to come back this morning! We left at 6am and were home about 20 minutes before plaster baby arrived! Nothing like flying by the seat of your pants, I say! She's asleep just now, so I'm taking five, amongst getting the washing on! Sadly, I really missed this place!

S88AHG · 28/08/2007 10:49

crace I have a baby who resists sleep, have trained her to take herself off to sleep by leaving her a bit longer every time she goes down, she is always worse on a monday as she gets rocked to sleep at home!!! It took me about a week to get her to go off alone, she isnt as small as your baby but I would do the same whatever the age, its good for them!!!

crace · 28/08/2007 11:01

So a sort of modified cry it out training? I hate to do it, I hate the sound of crying babies but I need to be able to just get on with the other two or I will have to give notice

Hey - need help with something else - anyone selling a cheap triple?

LoveMyGirls · 28/08/2007 11:21

Where are you crace i'm thinking of selling my triple, i'm in the midlands, no idea how much postage would be etc It's practically brand new, only been used a few times but now my dd2 is getting old enough to walk and my other mindees are older aswell tho if they went and i had 2 babies i would still only use my double so no need for it now really. All seats recline and it folds up like an umbrella so is quite compact it's got a raincover and little hoods over each seat iyswim?

We're having quite a chilled day here, mindee and dd2 are recovering from chicken pox, the weather looks miserable might pop out somwhere this afternoon if it looks brighter.

What are you all doing?

crace · 28/08/2007 11:36

looneytune · 28/08/2007 12:15

Hi everyone

PinkChick - glad you had a lovely time, sorry about the ear infection

Shoshable - glad they got through the holidays, I know what you mean about being ready. Ds is sooooooooo ready but still only in nursery every morning til January and nothing I could do to bring it forward!!!

crace - my double pay baby started that way. She started at 8 weeks and is now 6 months old. Even though it was only her and ds at the time, it was a NIGHTMARE, you may remember the threads about it? Anyway, baby was rocked at home and it was just impossible to get her to sleep by herself and she'd get herself into such a state as was so tired. Anyway, one day I spoke to the parents and explained how I couldn't rock the whole time and that she's actually very unhappy a lot as so tired (they were fed up at home too). Anyway, that was on a Friday and when she returned on following Thursday, she was a perfect baby and has been since. WHY???.......because they left her to cry in her cot for short times until she got herself off to sleep. Now she's such a happy baby and not at all upset about crying herself to sleep. Not sure if this is what's needed for your mindee but thought I'd tell you about my nightmare. Oh, and she always wakes after 30 mins sleep but I leave her and she very quickly goes back off.

maureenmlove - lucky you got back in time eh!!! Still feel quite on your behalf about all that!

Well....I've got a short week this week. Only working today and tomorrow as other baby is away Thurs/Fri Must say it's going to be a busy couple of days. The 4 under 5's is fine normally but baby is teething (just cut first tooth) and also learnt to crawl over the weekend so lots of reminding the kiddies that we can't just have whatever toys they want laying around and lots of cuddles for poor baby. Got the 2 sisters overnight so hope baby isn't up in the night too much - poor thing. Anyway, just keep telling myself that it's just today and tomorrow!! At least it's another nice day, 3 older ones have been having a nice play in the garden and have just come in so I can make lunch.

Best get to it.

LoveMyGirls · 28/08/2007 12:45

I have emailed you

crace · 28/08/2007 13:26

LMG - tag your it

LT - wow sounds like a handful - how do you cope with getting up in the night? I mean, bad enough when it's your own! Do you charge extra for non sleepers?

S88AHG · 28/08/2007 14:09

Yes kinda controlled crying thing, crying babies dont bother me so I guess I am lucky and its what I did with both of mine and a baby I nannied for so its like second nature. But honestly it really doesnt take long, if you start on a monday you will have it cracked by friday I bet.

Have you tried Ebay for triple I saw one go for about £30 on there the other day!!! I know they are not all that cheap but if you keep watching!!

Best of luck with everyting.

Hello to everyone I dont come in here much always reading and watching but dont say much normally as you keep me entertained when I feel like crying!!!

looneytune · 28/08/2007 14:57

crace - yes it is The 2 youngest have been asleep for a while so hopefully baby will feel better when she wakes up (gave some medicine before nap). I'm letting them sleep as long as they want as it's me that pays if it causes problems later (although from experience, doesn't really make a difference at this age). In answer to your question, no, I have a set fee. It's a big fee but not unheard of. I only reg'd for overnight care so could on occasions have double pay baby. The baby's mum set the rate at £70 per night (she insisted) and never thought I'd do overnighters apart from her. Got my cert when was on holiday and as soon as I got back, was asked to have the 2 sisters. Have been asked few times more since au pair left. I decided to stick with the same fee for everyone (apart from 2 sisters together for £100) as tbh, I don't sleep well as half awake all night worrying about them. BUT, of the 3 I've had so far (6 months, 8 months, 2 yrs), none of them have woken up in the night. Just hope baby is ok later!

Shoshable · 28/08/2007 15:33

We have ben to ulwort cove today, paddling in the rock pools, the older mindees were catching crabs, and these Snot like things (so knowledgable me) which my 12 year old thought was great to bring to me eeeewwwwuch.

Cant wait til Thursday we are having a long day out to Portsmouth to the Riyal Dockyards to see the Victory and Action Stations.

Shoshable · 28/08/2007 15:33

That was Lulworth Cove!!! my keyboard does not like the left caps lock

maureenmlove · 28/08/2007 16:05

My mindee has just gone home. Bless her! I think she was even happier than I've seen her without the plaster cast! She was such a wriggler too. I have been sitting by her nearly all day, since 7.45am! I was worried that she would roll off the bean bag. She is sooo heavy too. Thankfully, I haven't got her again til Monday, so I'll give my back a rest.

crace · 28/08/2007 17:31

LMG mailed you back

LoveMyGirls · 28/08/2007 19:33

Crace have just emailed you again

crace · 28/08/2007 20:42

Mo - what do you have to do with her - is she just happy sitting still?

maureenmlove · 28/08/2007 21:48

Bit late and you've probably gone, but anyway. She was actually happier and more interactive with me than she's ever been. I've got her on one of those big bean bags, so I can sit her up and she has been hilarious all day! She's been flapping her arms around and screeching like a looney and she kept pulling faces and making eyes at me! Changing her nappy was an experience, but by the time I'd done it 5 times, I'd got it! I'm doing it much more often than you would with another baby, just so it doesn't get over full. I just sat with her on the floor. We watched a bit of The Night Garden, she playing 'boo' with DH and then screamed for him when he left! We 'read' a few books, DD played with her. It was a breeze actually! I even had a cup of tea sitting on the little table next to me, knowing that she wouldn't pull it down! Next week, however, maybe different. DD will be back at school and DH will be at work.

Shoshable · 28/08/2007 22:56

Mo I used a frame for babyswing thing my Lo when she was lik ethat hung all sorts of things from it that she could play with. and fixed a mirror on a roll to a bit of hardboard, so that she could she herself.

and ahve you been out salsaing tonight.
