NYE babysitting fees!

Hey folks!
A couple I’ve ad hoc babysat for have asked me to babysit on New Year’s Eve from 6pm til 1am which are fairly standard babysitting times for me (I do expect a later finish for NYE especially but that’s no issue for me). I was just wondering how much you’d be willing to pay a babysitter for New Year’s Eve in particular? I’m in London and charge £10 an hour for these people (two little ones under 7, they’ll be in bed by 8:30pm, no real hassle). Would double time be unreasonable or is time and a half more acceptable?
My alternative if I wasn’t working would be going out with friends or hanging at home with family! So I’d rather make the money! 😂

Time and a half seems ok. For 7 hours you'd get £105.

You know them, their circumstances, and your relationship (as in future work).
It depends how much you'd prefer to go out (and spend £100 maybe?) or if you'd prefer to earn money.

To me, £100 seems a HUGE amount to spend on a babysitter, but it sounds as if you are normally earning £70 for a pretty easy gig anyway, so - if you are sitting for people who think nothing of paying out £70 PLUS the actual cost of their night out - then their relationship with money might be different from mine.

Hmmm, tricky one. I charge £10 an hour to babysit on a weekend and tbh, I would probably leave it at that. £10 an hour is easy money to sit and watch tv.

I'd leave it at that as you've got a good gig and I'd imagine they'll treat you to a takeaway/tip?

If you use some of your money to get a taxi home I'd maybe say just pay me as normal but can you pay for my taxi home as it'll be double time fares

We paid £20/hour for NYE last time my husband and I went out that evening (which is partially why we never go out without the kids on NYE any more!)

Definite double time!!
