CM CLUB - Am I allowed to look after 5 children aged under 5 in this situation..................

Now I grabbed your attention...........

Term Time I look after 4 under 5's if you count my ds (although allowed in holidays too if required).

First ever mindee is currently having adhoc care due to pending house move to new location (would normally do holiday club at private school). As far as OFSTED are concerned, she's an over 5 as 4 and half and at school 10 sessions.

I'm required for adhoc care for a couple of days once the kids are back at school, this would make ages: 8 months, 2 yrs, 3 yrs, 4 yrs, 4 yrs. This makes 5 under 5's HOWEVER one is classed as over 5, the other one who's the 4th under 5 is all fine as on my certificate.

I'm pretty sure this is ok and all within my numbers but dh wanted me to double check this is ok?

Do I make sense? Hope so!

TIA

I think I've got you! Yes, it sounds fine to me, but wait for someone else to pick it apart, its getting late for me!

Also think this may be OK, however a query...

Is your son in the list of the children's ages?

looneytune · 20/08/2007 20:06

ds is one of the 4 yr old so yes

Looks to me that you are adding a 5 year old, to the 4 under 5's you currently have permitted for ratio purposes. Thus looks good.
Would not suggest you care for any other children though... 5 children of those ages could be hard work!

MaureenMLove · 20/08/2007 20:23

What do you mean could be hard work, Nick? Can't wait for the Staff Room that day!

tori32 · 20/08/2007 20:29

Are both the 4 year olds in 10 sessions or just one because the maximum numbers are 3 under 5 and 3 between 5 and 8 including your own children. If only 1 4year old is in 10 sessions this means that you have 4 under 5's which is not allowed unless you get a variation. If both are in 10 sessions then they are both classed as 5 and are therefore within ratios.

nannynick · 20/08/2007 20:48

tori... my understanding is that there is a variation for permitting 4 under 5's already in place.

nannynick · 20/08/2007 20:49

MML - well, they could all be little angels

looneytune · 20/08/2007 21:36

Nannynick - that's what I thought as she's the only extra and she's doing 10 sessions (I have 2 spaces for over 5's). And no I don't intend on taking on any more, athough those hours with all 5 of them will only be 2/3 as the 3 year old goes to pre-school til 2.45pm.

Mo - we'll see if I make it in the staff room!!!

tori32 - I have a variation that allows me the 4 under 5's all week. The extra is a 4 and half year old who attends 10 sessions per week normally. She's an ex mindee who's stopping school for the first week back as moving to new area. As far as OFSTED are concerned, she IS an over 5 in my ratios, I just wanted to be extra sure about the 5 of them

Just for peace of mind then before I commit.....everyone thinks this is ok now?

Sorry Loonytune didn't catch the variation you already had when I first read it. Yes its completely fine.
