Sorry girls, I think she may have been looking of me! I will deal with her later!

With the help of the wonderful MN, I managed to find a special teddy for my mindee in plaster on Friday night. She pulled th head off hers in hospital and the parents were frantic trying to replace him. It was only an Asda teddy, but it was her special one and Asda couldn't find one anywhere in the country. Anyway, I said 'I'll ask around' (casually, as you do when talking about MN!) and within a couple of hours, I'd got one! Parents were thrilled and called me their hero! So I'm childminder of the week!!

looneytune · 20/08/2007 08:40

Oh goody, there IS a staffroom today - thought I'd be on my own with all those on hols!!

I know shoshable, terrible!!! Is there a camera in the staff room? If so, maybe we should report her to the cyber police?!

I'm not sure what's happening today. I let parents know last night that ds MIGHT have chicken pox, I still don't know if he has as he's only got 9 spots and they COULD be bites. Anyway, left it with mum of sisters that I'd text this morning so I did at 7.15 and not heard back. No doubt they'll just turn up but would be nice to know whether or not to expect them.

I do a my first ever mindee coming today and am SOOO exicted and ds has got a BIG pile of toys out ready for her - been like this for an hour and she's not due til 10am!! Her mum was fine about the possible CP as she' same age as ds (4 and half) and needs to have them at some point. But now she's coming, IF the sisters still come, we need more bread. Can't decide whether or not it's safe to take ds out to get some

Anyway, hope your printer gets sorted shoshable!

Mo - I saw that, you did FAB!!!!

[waves at KS]

Shoshable · 20/08/2007 08:46

Ahhh Mo, that is lovely, LT I went to see the mindee that left in may, did he want to see me, NO, but DH that was a different matter!!!!!

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 20/08/2007 09:18

No more spots then LT? Strange. This is the 3rd case of possible CP I've heard of this last week. My god daughter had a few on her back last week. Doctor even confirmed them, but as fast as they appeared, they scabbed and were gone! Weird. So difficult to know what to do, when you're a cm and have a steady stream of kids in and out all week long! Thankfully the only time we had an outbreak, I was only looking after a brother & sister and along with my dd - they all got it together!

Why do they always like DH more? Mine are like that. DH works from home a lot and ALL of my littlies spend half the day shouting up the stairs for him! When ever I make a drink, they always insist on taking one for him. I think its because he's a softy. He lets them sit on his office chair and spin round and he lets them press buttons on his PC! They call him Eeyore as well! I think it stems from my god son not being able to say his name and calling him Eeyore instead. Its stuck now and even my Rainbow guides call him Eeyore!

Hi all at MamaG ! hee hee ! Unexpectedly no mindees today, so have been to soft play with my 2 DSs. Off out again soon, to catch up with friends. Phew.

hennipenni · 20/08/2007 14:29

Hello ladies. just grabbing a cup tea. I wonder if any of you can help me? . I know I'm an experienced minder however I'm absolutly crap at paperwork. Now, I have parents coming to see me this week and I wonder if you could all share with me what you show parents as regards to paperwork, policies etc?. I do show policies, copy of ofsted report (only I hve lost half of that too). I keep getting passed over to for other minders nd this is beginning to get my goat! By the way, I always tell parents that I loath paperwork and try to do the bare minimum cos I would rather spend time with the children!

KaySamuels · 20/08/2007 17:17

Hennipenni I do a print out of my policies, procedures and fees, and give that to parents, saying they can keep it to read over, I also show them a folder with my many training certificates, thank you cards, my last ofsted report and some questionnaires I handed out to kids and parents. These questionnaires are fab to show new parents and Ofsted, and are a great morale boost when you have had a bad day!

MaureenMLove · 20/08/2007 17:37

Hi Henni. I'm not good with paper work either, but I do print out policies, like Kay, to give to the parents. I also show them my first aid and Ofsted certs. Hadn't thought about questionnaire. Thats a good idea. I also have a rough breakdown of my daily routine to show them, which includes all the other mindees and their ages on it.

MaureenMLove · 20/08/2007 17:40

Kay, what sort of questions did you put on your questionnaire? My parents are so gonna laugh at me if I do it! They've written reports of me for Ofsted in the past, and showed me what they wrote, but I never thought of keeping them! I used to have a file at work which I called the 'feelgood' file, of clients that had complimented me and I'd read them when I had a rotten client. I think I want another one!

KaySamuels · 20/08/2007 18:02

I asked on here for wht to ask a while back, then adapted the quesions so I had a set for kids and a set for parents, I will have a look and see if I have them saved on word. The kids answers are fantastic, they have answered them very literally and honestly.

What is your favourite thing to do at Ks house?
Do you have any ideas about new things you would like to do or new toys I could buy?
What is your favourite tea at K?s house?

Describe Ks house.
What would make going to Ks even better?
Thank you for answering this questionnaire!

hennipenni · 20/08/2007 18:15

Thankyou ladies, that has given me a little more to go on! Anybody else?

Mo, the sort of things that you do I do to! have just sorted out a file with artwork in, only problem being that the mindees like to take it all home so it's not looking very full!

MaureenMLove · 20/08/2007 18:21

Brilliant Kay! I love the one of the kids one about 'Describe K' I bet thats an entertaining one. I can just imagine what my schoolies would say about me. 'She makes us practice Salsa dancing with her' and 'when she she can't help us with our homework, she asks her friends on the internet!'
