Finding temp nannies?

Just wondering how difficult it is to find nannies for a temporary role? It will be for six months whilst I return to work but will end in the summer as I go on mat leave again...

Temp jobs I have done recently have been a couple of days per week for 4 or so weeks, or they are a day here, couple of days there.

That sort of temp nanny can be found quite easily via sites like NannyJob and Childcare.co.uk.

What you are after though sounds different to that, more a permanent job but for a fixed time period.
That may be harder to find someone to do, though you don't know until you try.

I would post on childcare.co.uk but in your ad be really specific about your requirements. You'll need to pay £25 for a month membership.

I’m a nanny currently desperately looking for a temp role of about 6m and they seem few and far between...i think you'll have plenty of applicants!

Another one who feels you will have no trouble. I had one of my two best nannies ever for 9 months fixed contract as she had something that started in September. Your timing may work out very well.

@OfstedNannyEmma any chance you’re in SW London? Wink

Sadly am in NW London!

No luck so far and feeling disheartened. Have tried childcare.co.uk, nannyjob and gumtree. Wondering whether to try an agency now. The fees are a bit much for a short term contract

Have you tried your local Facebook group if you're on that? You can often find people who aren't actively looking as they think most jobs are permanent but would like a short term contract.

Yes I’ve posted in my local one and mostly had applications from very young inexperienced girls or mums who can’t do the long hours I need. I might need to contact some agencies I guess. I just don’t want to pay their silly fees for a short contract.

As many nannies and myself when I was one , you want a long term job

Hence 6mths puts people off

Have you tried agencies
