Hi
Just had a major overhaul of my Childminding space and cut down on what I am displaying to parents...to try to get my house back!! Other than registration certificate, funding agreement, ofsted number incase of complaint and the safeguarding poster do you put anything else up? Public liability certificates or safeguarding/first aid/food hygiene
Any advice greatly welcomed pleaseSmile

My childminder doesn't display any of these things, or perhaps I've never noticed them? Her house looks like a home, and apart from the array of toys it doesn't look like a standard childcare setting (which I quite like).

Maybe things have changed but I am sure we have to display the registration certificate and the OFSTED poster as a minimum?
Been a while since I registered which is why I would like an up to date list!! I agree that parents choose a home setting for the 'homely' reason which is what I am trying to get back to!!

You definitely have to display registration certificate and Ofsted parent poster as a minimum. I also display insurance certificate. Everything else goes in a folder that can be accessed by parents.

I have nothing up on walls. All are in a document/presentation book type thing and it lives in the hall near the area that all the children sit to remove shoes/coats etc.

I was told that this is perfectly acceptable as it's out and parents can look at it whenever.

There doesn’t seem to be any consistent, definitive answer to this. Even Ofsted inspectors disagree from one visit to the next.

I recommend you get hold of one of those clear plastic display hangers with A4 pockets, usually used for children’s artwork. Put your certificates in there, so you can quickly switch between work mode and home mode with minimal fuss.

I have a magnetic white board with my OFSTED registration, parents poster & insurance certificate then I write each week any notices/holiday dates . Easy to put away at the end of the working week and I'm certainly not sticking posters on my walls!

I have a registration certificate and parent poster on a shelf but nothing displayed or on walls.

JaneO1297 · 30/08/2019 20:21

The requirements regarding the registration certificate state you must display your registration certificate on the premises where you provide childcare. Doesn't necessarily say where it has to be, but a magnetic whiteboard is a great idea!

I have my registration certificate, parent poster and insurance certificate out on a pin board in the dining room. No one ever looks at them, but they are there if anyone wants to see them.

I have to say my favourite dumb rule is when the Ofsted inspector comes and brings her own little poster that you have to display while she's there, telling everyone that an Ofsted inspector is on the premises.

Not sure if it’s for the benefit of the two year olds who can’t read it, or their parents who are unlikely to miss the presence of an unfamiliar grown adult in the house.

I have one of the art hanging things which I hang from a hook in my hallway when working.

As I said to my last inspector, this is my home which I open up to other families. It is not and never will be a mini nursery so i will display the minimum I have to when working and the rest of the time it goes away.

jannier · 31/08/2019 11:21

I've copied and reduced my certificate insurance and parents poster to A5 and have them on a small cork board I put up on hall sideboard when working

greenwaterbottle · 31/08/2019 11:31

Just the mandatory certificates. All other training is on a folder that new parents see and subsequent training is shared on Facebook group then filed away. Current work would be up on windows for a few days then goes home, I'd have a photo for assessment etc

looselegs · 02/09/2019 13:52

The only ones you HAVE to display, are your registration certificate and your parents poster
And liability insurance if you employ an assistant.
The rest can go in a folder.
