Childminder charges/fees

My Kids will be going to a Childminder & I'm wondering how fee are calculated. ( she charges £5.50 per hour & 10% discount for siblings)

I want them picked up from home in the morning (she said she will charge £3 a day for that) & take them to school

She will pick them up after school, take them to her house, keep them & then drop them home at 5 or 6 pm.

My question is, do I still pay her for the hours my kids are in sch? Between 8:45 am & 3 pm?

Not usually no, if children are at school then they don’t affect the little ones ratios.

Charges vary there is no typical.
Manh wont give a discount for siblings as they need as much food and supervision as well as activities and are taking up 2 spaces.
Many childminders will charge session fees regardless of time used as you cant go back and get more school children.
Its unusual to get anyone who collects and drops off to home as its disruptive to others and can effect ability to care for other families and would cost her more than shes charging in time and expenses.

I don’t know of anyone who charges for the hours children are in school. But, as Jannier says, all childminders are individuals, so it’s unwise to second guess on some notion of what might be assumed to be "typical".

Tbh I always find it slightly worrying when this sort of question pops up on MN. If you’re asking complete strangers on the web a simple question you could ask your CM, then that doesn’t bode well for the sort of good, communicative relationship you need together to ensure best possible care for your child.

Ask her!
I doubt if she'll charge while they're at school ( I wouldn't as it's a space they're never going to use) but all childminders work differently so just ask!

While you’re at it, have you asked about school holidays and the one people invariably forget: inset days?

Parents frequently just assume a childcare provider will cover these, but it might not be possible due to strict limits on the number of under-8s allowed at any one time. Some choose not to, because of the effect on the younger children.
