Tax Free allowance employer split

Hi!

I’m about to start a new nannying role and I need to let them know about the tax free allowance split.

This will be my main job but I also do AdHoc work for another family, it’s very sporadic - one month I may do 14 hours in the month, other months nothing. So do I split the tax free allowance or do my new employers have 100% of the allowance?

My brain can’t work it out!

Tia

It’s your personal allowance, it shouldn’t make a difference to your employers unless you’ve agreed a net wage...

Thank you! I thought that was the case but the Summer holidays have fried my brain Wink !

Nannies contracts always used to be based on net/take home pay.
Haven't seen it for a while now though.

HMRC will likely split your code quite quickly these days anyway 😊

Complete a P46/New Starter Checklist, tick box C as you already have other income.

Then see what HMRC does. After a couple of months use www.gov.uk/personal-tax-account to view details of annual estimated income from both jobs and use the online form to tell them if you feel that their estimates are wrong... they will then issue new tax codes.

Agree a gross salary and then it won't matter what tax code is assigned to the job in terms of the employers costs.
