A question for nannies working for multiple families

I have heard somewhere about nannies not being able to work for more than 2 families at one time. Does anyone know if this is definitely true and has anyone worked for more than 2 families at one time?

Yes, it is in the exemptions to the Childcare Act.

It is working for more than two families AT THE SAME TIME. So you can do a nannyshare where you care for the children from both families at the same time but you cannot do a nannyshare with three families where you care for the children from three families at the same time.

It is not the number of families you work for but how many you work for simultaneously.

The legislation is here:

You can work for a different family each day of the week. But not more than two families at the SAME time. If you did work for more than 2 families at the same time you have to register yourself and the property under childminding regulations.

Yes I know about the many families, it was whether I could work for more than 2 families at a given time. I.e if I could have family A and B on Mondays and Tuesdays and then family A, B and C on Wednesdays. But it looks like not. It's soooo annoying as I'm having to turn down overtime for some families as I alreasy have two families on other days.

Yes

and then family A, B and C on Wednesdays.
No, if it means having children from family C with you when you care for children from family A & B.

You could qualify as a childminder then and have them at your home.

molyholy I wish I was in a position to do this but unfortunately my living situation would not allow this at the moment as I share a house.

As nick said it’s a no. Only 2 families a day

stucknoue · 27/06/2019 08:03

It's at the same time so you could work for family a&b until 4pm then go to family c for the evening

Thanks all! It's such a shame really.
