have had a mindee have a record in the accident book within the first week, or even the first day?!!

I feel so guilty, although I know it wasn't my fault. My first day with a new mindee today and she fell over in the playground after I picked her up. She's grazed and cut her knee so badly I've had to bandage it. I know I couldn't have prevented it, but still feel really bad!

Any of you cm had a similar experience? Just curious!

All the time

& in their settling in period too

& once whilethier mum was still staying with them

Yep, me too! Brand new neighbours, thrilled to find out they lived 3 doors from a childminder, when they desparately needed one and their precious ds fell over his own feet! Lump the size of an egg in the middle of his head! I felt absolutely dreadful! Mum was lovely and obviously didn't blame me, especially as he used to do something to cause a lump or bump on a weekly basis!

ThePrisoner · 18/07/2007 23:02

Oh yes, been there and done that. I even accidentally scratched one baby whilst holding her when her mother was stood in front of me!

Yes, had a bumped head on first day once. The mum never came back again . But don't think it was because of the bump; the older child called me mum by mistake when getting ready to leave. Sure it was just a slip of the tongue, i've been called dad, grandma & various teachers names over the years but I didn't get a chance to discuss it cos she grabbed her stuff and practically ran to her car. I felt awful.

yip quite a few times, parents never had a problem. bumped heads, skint knees, ran over by a pedal bike, fell off a roundabout, lots of others. Im a great childminder really, just have a few accident prone children including a 2 yr old who has no concept of falling so doesnt try to stop himself when he falls or walks down steps.
As long as you explain what happened rather than not telling the parent what has happened then ive not had a problem

Not to bad with the children I have at the moment but I have had my fair share of bumps/knocks!

Within the first week of a toddler they fell and banged knees and elbows (oww)

TP same here I felt awful, but mum said yep doing that with me too! Phew

Had to rake one to A&E meeting mum there, 40 minutes after being left with me fo rteh first time he was 2.6 and climbing on the small Little Tykes climbing frame, fell off backwards, and hit his head on a stone (not even a big stone) burried in the grass, Jesus dont head cuts bleed!

(didnt put mum off, or him, he was still with me 4 years later)

Shoshable · 19/07/2007 20:18

And I do apologize for my typing and no haven't been drinking

chel86 · 20/07/2007 11:02

At least I know I'm not the only one then!

What a nightmare on your first day Shoshable!!

Kids, they don't half know how to scare us don't they!
