Nannies who belong to Amida in Twickenham/Hampton

I know this is a long shot. But, I have a new nanny who has a membership. And I just wondered if any nannies on here might belong and she could have a work out buddy. She is new to the UK, so doesn't kow many people yet. I just thought I'd see if anyone on here is interested...

one last hopeful bump...

Hi eleusis
i haven't gotten around to joining my nanny yet as I was hurumphing about the nanny fees cf Lensbury - twice the price, for far less in terms of facilities....HOWEVER, will probably join her in summer to go with the kids (she won't want to go outside of that as she belongs to a gym near her home). Where is your nanny from?
M

eleusis · 17/07/2007 22:41

She is from Canada. Just arrived a couple of weeks ago. I actually got her a student membership because the nanny membership only allows them to go with the kids and not on their own. So, she is actually a student member.

What is Lensbury?

it's another club in the area near Teddington Studios - because of its location and size, it's far more geared up for families/kids than Amida (row boats on Thames/sailing lessons etc)....however waiting list to join is 3 years so that won't come through soon! IN meantime, will probably join my nanny at amida for summer, but only to go with kids so not much help for you...she has membership at her own gym near her

eleusis · 18/07/2007 10:15

How old are your kids? Mine are 2 and 4.

eleusis · 18/07/2007 11:00

DD1 has swimming lessons, they are very good.

eleusis · 18/07/2007 12:28

On another subject, why don't you join us at the West London meet ups?

OP posts:
amidaiwish · 18/07/2007 13:47

cos i never seem to be able to make them... (dh in US a lot) plus a teeny bit shy!

eleusis · 18/07/2007 14:01

That's easily sorted.

  1. Get a sitter
  2. Meet me at Amida and we can work out befor we go drink loads of calories
  3. Go to meetup with me so you don't feel awkward.

Job done. Do you live near Amida? You must applying to reception next year (I seem to remember you on the Rihmond Reception places ruckus earlier this year). Do youknow that AC has changed its entrance criteria?

amidaiwish · 18/07/2007 14:19

oh ok then!
will get my butt over to the west london meet up and see when the next one is.

didn't get into St J's for nursery so not too hopeful for next year. am tempted by St cath's but don't really fancy paying primary school fees when totally unnecessary around here. we live very near St.C's.

what's the new AC criteria?

eleusis · 18/07/2007 14:28

Nursery kids no longer get priority into reception. So, if you are not a regular HT attender, you need to be one of the closest for the 30% of proximity places. Much better chances of getting in than in previous years.

My DD is entering reception this coming year. DS wil be due to enter nursery in 2008. But, I don't know if I can be bothered for 2 1/2 hours of care. We live in Sunbury. It's hardly worth the school run. And since it isn't going to get him into reception (and let's face it most people who are in the nursery are there as a means to bag a recption place), I'm not sure if I can be bothered. I'm confident that he will get into reception on the basis of sybling criteria.

I'm actually not very happy about the change because after spending a year getting to know the other kids in nursery, they now get all jumbled up again and have a new set of students for reception. I don't really like that. But, oh well, it is what it is.

amidaiwish · 18/07/2007 14:36

well i was doing the same for St.Js - only doing the nursery to get into reception, though it's not guaranteed i don't think there's ever been a case of them not getting in. i guess if you make the criteria for the nursery then you will for the school too. unless of course a load of siblings turn up who haven't applied for the nursery.

may also go for s.h. in tedd. that's supposed to be lovely too and not as oversubscribed... i just want to be able to walk them to school! is that too much to ask??

eleusis · 18/07/2007 14:39

It might be. You never know.

Anyway, I'm going to go find you over on the meet-up thread.

Hiya. 15 weeks... as in 15 weeks pregnant?

A bunch of West Londoners / SW Londoners meet up regularly. There is one at Brula in St. Margarets on Friday if you want to come.
