Our Nanny is moving to Aus!! Nanny or Au Pair

So our Nanny has been our Nanny since eldest was 9 months old, he's now 5, she is moving to Aus in June, and I couldn't be happier for her but we now need to find another nanny. We've come across a young lady from Germany who would like to come to the UK to study, does anyone have any experience of a au pair that is also studying? Our youngest is 4 months old. I personally feel it may be a struggle for her to study while looking after the kids but DH said everyone has to start somewhere and we should give her a chance.

This might not be the case now, but I was taught that au pairs shouldn't be in full sole charge of young babies. Also, they shouldn't work many hours, so she may not be able to work as much as you need. You'll need to look at how many hours legally she can work.

Personally I wouldn't use an au pair for a young child. School age kids then fine but not babies and toddlers.

As PP have said, you can't leave a 4 month old with an untrained au pair!
