Hi all, i am just getting myself organised to start minding. I am a bit stuck on the fees, was surprised at how much they vary between minders. My question is do you include everything in your fee or do you charge for extras such as collecting and dropping kids off?? thanks

I used to charge extra for food and nappies but I got a bit fed up with the reluctance from parents to pay it so now I just add it to my daily rate for new enquiries.

I only charge extra for music class.

The pick ups and drop offs that I do actually work in my favour so I never think to charge for them!!

I'm sure someone more sensible will be along with better tips!!

Hi I cahrge an hourly rate which includes all drinks, snacks, meals, wipes, toddlers etc. I charge extra for baby gymnastics as that is £2.50 per child and ask the parents to provide their own nappies. I never charge extra to collect or drop off but having said that most of the parents will offer some extra money if it is a one off drop (eg to a teddy bears picnic in the woods or ballet exam)

Thanks, think i will probably go with an all inclusive rate to keep things simple! just not sure what that rate should be!

I'm actually thinking about adding a £10 a year fee for schoolies. I am forever putting my hand in my pocket for £1 non uniform days or giving them a tin of food for Harvest and it seems so little to keep asking the parents for it back and you never get it anyway. One particular parent always forgets, so I though £10 a year for school extras would cover it.

I charge £1 per day for lunch (they can bring there own but never do, easier for them I guess)

Don't charge for school runs only because my own kids go to the creche and school and only 10 min walk there, and back to mine

They provide nappies, wipes,

I pay for any toddlers, trips out ect. HTH

I charge £1 for lunches and teas (most bring own lunches, eat my teas).

Everything else in hourly rates (drinks, snacks, playgroup). Little ones bring their nappies, wipes, baby food, bottles, etc).

I do the odd big day out in the summer hols which I ask parents to contribute to, usually send out a letter in advance with details and permission slip.

on the subject.. would you charge mileage/petrol money for an occasional out of the way after school collection. i.e If mindee was needing collecting from a school trip, further away than the school.
It would be approx 10 -15 miles. Would you charge 40p per mile?
I feel awful asking, but it is extra expenses in petrol which I can't afford.
Thank you
