Help naming business

Hello,
I am waiting on the last bit of the registering process to become a childminder. And would like a catchy name for my business. I live in a village and there are a few childminders in surrounding villages and towns, they all have really good names; there are bumblebees, little stars, little explorers, little ducklings. All of which I quite like.

I originally liked the idea of busy bees as I'm forever saying my children are like busy bees when they are engrossed in an activity, my surname begins with a B and I was called Mrs B When I worked in a preschool before leaving to have my daughter,so thought Mrs B's childcare. But I'm not too keen knowing there is a childminder called bumblebees.

My road name has Fleur wood and farm lane in it...not sure if that helps.
My village also has the word puddle in it...so wasn't sure about something to do with that.

I would be looking after children on the early years register. So something aimed at young children is fine.
I did think little oaks as I think there's big Oak tree in the village.

I tend to over think things a d would just like a little help.

Many thanks, if you take the time to answer 😀

Fleur Farm? it's something a bit different from the others and i like how it sounds

I like Little Oaks. I’d avoid Farm Anything if you’re not on a farm - you may get enquires from people expecting a farm setting.

Busy Bees is the name of the largest nursery group in the UK.

Where I live there are a lot of nurseries/pre schools called Little Oaks/Little Acorns/Mighty Oaks/Little Stars.

The trouble with having a name like any of the above is that parents may assume you are a nursery rather than a childminder. That's not to say you shouldn't go down this route but I think you need to personalise it more to you to avoid any confusion.

Puddleducks daycare?

Could you just use "your village name" childcare? It will help with your marketing on Google etc as you will be easier to find. It sounds professional and it sounds like your village name could still be quite 'cutesy' as a nod towards the childcare.

Not busy bees as there so so many busy bees nurseries.

Little owls

Puddlejumpers

I was going to say Little Owls too

Yes I agree that most of the names do sound like nurseries. I like the idea of using my village name and then childcare after.

Also the suggestion of little oaks.

Thank you for the suggestions

Not sure what your li her term plans are, but if there's any chance you may move, don't tie it to your village/street etc. Is there a play on your own name you could do?

There can be various problems with using 'business names'. As already mentioned, they can make people think you’re a nursery so potential clients will overlook you.

You can inadvertently copy an existing business; you already did this with the Busy Bees idea. At best, this causes confusion. Two nurseries near me have similar names: X Village Nursery and X Day Nursery. This results in everything from grandparents dropping children at the wrong one to new clients sending payments to the wrong nursery. At worst, it could result in civil legal action. It can also result in accidental reputational damage: say, if a business with a similar name is involved in something untoward.

If you insist on a business name, be sure to open a business bank account, because you could struggle to get people to write payment cheques in your name to go in your personal current account.

My personal preference is to use the simple format of “My Name, Childminder ". You want people to trust you, and putting your name to the business says just that. In any case, I think most CM 'business names' sound awfully twee and tacky.
