30 hours funding - starting employment

I have searched everywhere and cannot find where it states how you get the 30 hours funding. I am being pressured into finding extra hours (I currently work 10 hours a week). My 3 year old son has the 15 hours funding already and his birthday was October. I have got an interview at a school this week but if the start date is next week how long do I need to work until I get the funding? I cannot start work unless unless i have the childcare. I don't understand why I am being pressured to work more hours if I cannot get the funding immediately. My childcare provider can offer me a payment plan. Is the child care backdated from when you start work?

You'll get the funding from next term - after Easter.
You need to earn at least £120 a week.

As I understand it if your DC is already receiving the 15 hours, you could receive the additional 15 hours as soon as you apply? here

Thank you. Am I supposed to pay for the childcare myself until April? If i get this job and they want me to start straight away?

The childcare provider has to submit their claim once a term so I think you'll have missed this one. Best check with your nursery.

If you want childcare and your nursery can't access funding immediately then someone will have to pay. That's if there is space available.

I'm a cm and claims can be submitted at any point in the term. For example this week is headcount week but there will be an amendment task towards the end of term for any mid term starters or leavers.

Thank you. I don't know how I will be able to afford the child care until next term without the funding. Could I get any other help towards the cost until next term if I started this job next week?

I'm pretty sure you won't get funding until summer term, because your code needed to be applied for by 31st December to get funding this term.

Mama2210 · 15/01/2019 10:40

I've finally found out that I will have to pay the funding and as I'm on universal credit they refund up to 85% of it. I will need to provide my contract and receipts. Which isn't so bad and I can apply for the free funding for the summer term.
Thank you all for your help.

Does anyone have any helpful advice on working and paying for 2 children in childcare? I think we should qualify for 30 hours free for the eldest child, but we’d have to spread this out over the year (as we have been doing before number two arrived) because we cannot take every holiday etc off work. Working part time and having two children under 4 is a tricky one and you just about break even unless you earn mega bucks working part time....

Hi iwondet if anyone could shed any light on this 30 free hours stuff lol. My boy turns 3 on 22nd April this year, the term starts 23rd April. Everything ive read says you get funding the 1st term after they turn 3. I have applied for the code and got it, but then someone told me they have to be 3 before 1st April?
Any advice?

HSMMaCM · 10/02/2019 17:03

Yes. They have to be 3 before 1st April. Your son will get funding from September.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 10/02/2019 21:11

Yes agree, it will be September.
