Finding a childminder for school pick ups

Hi can anyone give me some advice? My ds is 5 and has some anger issues. We are currently under a peadiatrician and suspect ADHD. School has been difficult and the after school provision is just not suitable for his needs. I work full time and need to find some suitable after school care. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I go about finding a special needs qualified childminder/ part time nanny?

Your local council will do a list of all childminders registered who drop off and pick up from your school. You could ring them first off to ask about special needs awareness etc

Hi thank you, it’s a very small local school so currently there is only one childminder who does pick ups.

Have you tried childcare.co.uk? They have quite a varied list of childminders, nannies and out of school clubs listed by area. You can search using your postcode and select a specific distance.
Hope that helps!

Have you spoken to the childminder who goes to the school? Even if she hasn't had training, she may be able to access some.

I have joined but can’t message anyone. Do you really have to pay to contact people?

Training isn’t an issues it’s her availability that’s the problem. It’s very busy so not the right environment for him.

One of you has to pay. I've paid, so parents can contact me without paying. I think that's how it works anyway.

Your Local Authority should have a list of all childminders in your area and you won't have to pay to contact them.
