CM Club: Feeling vunerable?

Parent asked me to take her child to an afterschool club - I can't that night

I have 4 school pick ups then need to be home for a parent to collect from me

So she asked about another night

I have 3 school pickups then my DC has a club they go to - so again I can't that night

So parent says they will have to think about their care as they want their child to do this club

AIBU to object to this attempt at blackmail?

No they areprobably just trying it on, you cant be expected to accommadate things like that if its not physically possible, they could always finish early to take their child!!!!

No you're not! She has to understand that you already have commitment to the other children you mind. I had one like that once. She gave me a list of clubs and asked which one I could take her lo to. All at the sports club, which is a bus ride away as I didn't have a car at the time. I told her I'd think about it and it turned out that it was just too difficult, with all the other kids that I'd got. She was quite put out, when I suggested that she found a weekend club for him, if she really wanted him to do something.

You are the boss SnapD.

If you can't do it let her go,she'll be no loss if this is how she treats you xx

snapD · 27/06/2007 07:46

But they are F/T and the others are just afterschool

I can't give notice to 2 just cos a mum wants me to do a club - but I do worry that she will go elsewhere

Oh SnapD,sorry i didn't realise they were your full timer.Don't know what to suggest then.

Is there any way you could do it any other night,to offet the mum something? You shouldn't have to but if you could do it till someone else comes along?

agalch · 27/06/2007 07:52

Is there anyone else going to the club that you or the parent know who may be willing to drop child off to you? Or a member of staff may drive by you on way home?

I have had this problem but mindee is 11 so just walks back to mine at four o clock as I am only 10min walk from school. I have also had head teacher drop younger kids off to me before too!

snapD · 27/06/2007 08:12

No - it's the next town over

I keep reminding myself IANBU, IANBU, IANBU

It wasn't too bad - she didn't mention it (thank goodness)
