EM - no experience myself with oldies like that but I think Shosha and dmo do?

crace · 25/06/2007 10:15

Mo - seriously the best part of this job isn't it? I love the cuddles, very tactile myself so I love the free kisses and hugs from my mindees. Awww

MaureenMLove · 25/06/2007 10:18

Haven't had 12 year old mindees, but my dd is 11 and half and she's fine with the little ones. Usually, the big ones adore the little ones and are actually very happy to do the sort of activities you suggest. I often have dd & her friends come out with us and they are really quite useful to have around! Keep the little ones entertained anyway! Are they girls or boys?

I quite like the cherry one every now and then...!!!

for a cheap bottle of plonk I love sainsburys basics table wine - £2.05 and tastes quite nice for a cheapy!!

MaureenMLove · 25/06/2007 10:22

It tasted like that cough mixture the doctor used to give out in huge brown glass bottles! I like the Asda cheepie Cab Sav, £2.48 a bottle and tastes fine. I am a cheap date tho!

Earthymama · 25/06/2007 10:26

They are girls; I've got a 10 yr old DGS, who loves this sort of stuff but some of his friends would just feel anything like was beneath them.
I guess I'll just have to meet them and try to get a feel for their attitude. I don't want the little ones (or me)to miss out.
In the past I was a youth worker and worked with 11 year olds who were so grown-up and cynical, it's coloured my view of the pre-teens!!

PinkChick · 25/06/2007 10:31

hi all, my full timer is on holiday this week, so just working two days alter in week.
am in very bad mood, firstly having massive probs with dp and his estranged father who hasnt replied properly after sending his bloody sister a heartfelt long message, then we all got up early and dp picked my mam up as we had electriction booked in today at 8.30..who obviously hasnt turned up, need to take my anger out somewhere!

madge7 · 25/06/2007 12:01

Could do with a drink right now!! No littlies today b4 you have a heart attack!! hehe!!

Got an email from our social worker re the adoption, and the "board" need us to elaborate on a few things. Crumbs I have been typing at this puter since half 7, I am getting somewhere thats for sure, but I dont think I am half way thru her little email - teehee, will be all worth it in the end I am sure.

Saltire - no I didnt work it out, are you on msn, add me if so [email protected] and can sort from there. I will sort out MN membership soon!!! God I am rubbish!

saltire · 25/06/2007 12:03

I'm not on MSN (DH very into computer security and swears MSN is BAD). Is that your email though, can i send you an email to that address?

madge7 · 25/06/2007 12:03

yep! sure thing!

crace · 25/06/2007 12:17

Is there any timeline when you will be able to adopt madge? What age are you looking to adopt?

crace · 25/06/2007 12:18

lovely day with mindees so far and even better, just an hour left and then freeeee - though, dd is teething badly so moody and stinky nappies and having littlies around helps distract here. Another little positive point for c/m is that she has friends come and play!

madge7 · 25/06/2007 12:52

Hi Crace,

We have been doing all the paperwork, courses, home study stuff i suppose properly since Jan 06, but expressed an interest aug 05.

Just finishing off with more stuff today (we hope) and we are set for "panel" where they hopefully approve us as adoptive parents at the end of July.

We have said we would like 2 children ages 0-4.

Shoshable · 25/06/2007 12:54

EM, I love having the older ones, they love playing with the LO's, we go all over the place, are they girls or boys, if girls you wont get a look in with the babies, and boys like anything they can touch, i.e museums that have things to do, they best day we had was a the beach in October, bright sunny day, I had wrapped them all up, got there and really warm, the older two girls were climbing up about 6 feet onto a ledge (It was OK looked like a ramp up to it) they discovered it was clay, found a plastic bottle filled it with water, and made a clay slide !!!! They had the time of their lives, but had to go home in knickers and coats, they were not getting into my car in that state!

I like older ones too! Shosha sums them up well!

They eat loads tho so put some additional food fees in for them or get them to bring their own!

They like to put you on the spot too and see if you cave but other than that it's all good fun!

My new mindee baby was lovely this morning! He is such a sweetie! School has shut early today due to flooding - it is chaos around here! DP went and got schoolies in the car for me at half one just couldn't face it!!

KaySamuels · 25/06/2007 14:55

Wasn't very alert this morning when I answered that cheeky thread didn't notice the date on it! Really should pay more attention!

mumlove · 25/06/2007 16:57

Mindees gone until tomorrow, anyone want a cheeky, mouthy nearly 7yr old. I have just put her in the bath so I can make some tea.

crace · 25/06/2007 17:10

Mum - only if you take a mouthy cheeky 10 year old boy in place of?

All quiet here, dd fell asleep on couch won't wake for anything - there goes any hope of an early bedtime!

Earthymama · 25/06/2007 21:13

They came round earlier, 10 year old twins, girl and boy, really, really nice children. Loved all the things I suggested doing so I think with some really good plans in place and emergency craft stuff at hand this will be good.
I felt really excited and enthusiastic so that's a bonus as I've been SAD and under the cold grey skies lately.
I do hope it all works out.
I'll be picking your brains soon.
Thanks EM
How are you all doing in this rain, here in Wales it's eased off now but looks awful in other parts of the country.

MaureenMLove · 25/06/2007 21:31

Great news EM. If nothing else, its quite refreshing to have an almost adult conversation whilst your working! Its been raining on and off here all day, but no problems. We're not near any flood warning areas and never will be, thankfully.
