Baby, 10 months old in childminders from 9.30am to 2.45pm ate sausage, mash and beans.

No fruit, no veg no other snacks. I'd have thought that this meal would be too high in salt, fat and sugar and not enough nutrients (I didn't think you could give sausages to babies?)

Would you be concerned? He's a great eater and will eat anything put in front of him and is very much on solid food, just cut up into chunks.

I wouldn't give a 10 month old sausages. A few years ago a toddler (aged 2) died after choking on a sausage cut into bite size pieces, in one of our local nurseries.

What did they have the previous weeks?? If you are basing everything on one meal the first time they are there I feel it’s a bit of an over reaction.
I would say pretty much every Child probably has sausage, mash and beans once a month! They serve it at school.
If on the other hand you have her menu and it’s nuggets and chips tomorrow, pot noodle the next day and a kebab the next then you may have a point. Although it is possible to make healthy homemade versions of all of those!

When mine were that age they just had whatever we adults were having - so that was everything from roast dinner to Thai curry to salmon and cous cous and yes sometimes sausage mash and beans.
They are the least fussy kids I know and are all healthy if not a bit skinny and shock horror they have sweets and chocolate too.

I have never laughed so much at a post in my life. I’m sorry.

I’m so laid back. I really really feel for your child minder

I eat a plant based. Vegan organic diet myself. I don’t however make my children. It’s too restrictive.

You say you only have one more chance that day to get in 4 fruits of veg for the day. You do realise you don’t have to be sooooo strict. They won’t get rickets from one meal. What about children’s parties?!?! What are you going to do then? We have some children at our school who are vegan. They can’t even get involved in the school fairs. As often the treats contain dairy. You should see them. Standing on the sidelines. Or not being invited to parties because of their diet. It’s so incredibly sad.

And you’re not even giving a chance to the childminder to even discuss her choice!!! I mean ok. Take the child out. But to not even let someone defend themselves. This is what’s wrong with the world. Smh. The world has gone pc mad. I really feel for the poor lady who thought she’d done well. I never ever buy ready made mash btw.

I just can’t even believe my eyes sometimes.

@Ingurr That's a completely different issue. They can also choke on a grape if eaten whole. It doesn't mean grapes are bad or unhealthy or not appropriate for his age, it just means that the food was not cut the right way (they need to be to be cut lenghtwise, both grapes and sausages)
