I'm interviewing a possible aupair tomorrow and my mind has gone blank as to questions I should ask her about herself as opposed to telling her what I need her to do.
Any advice?
Questions you'd wished you'd asked, but didn't?
things you wish someone had advised you, warned you about?
Thanks, any ideas gratefully received

Hi Kittyhas6,

I am mother of one year old boy, am Italian and when I was student I have been an Au Pair.

The reason I decided to be an Au Pair was that I love children and I wanted to learn english, so living with an english family was the most effective way to learn english because of the full immersion, to learn the culture and another advantage was I had spare time for my studies.

Now as a mum, if I were to look for an Au Pair I would look for a person with similar views about parental style or that could complement me with some task where I am not up to scratch.

I would ask her how she thinks she can help you, what she likes doing and is very important explaining her what you expect from her.

I would tell her how would be our typical day if she were to come and live with us.

I would tell her about my child habits.

Ideally I would choose someone I like as person and that could be my friend.

I hope that can help.

Ciao Valeria
