Finding a good au pair

Hi!

My friend and her family are moving to the UK soon, and would like to engage an au pair to look after their children - they've asked me if I can look into it for them.

May I ask the best way to about looking for a suitable au pair please? I've never had to do this, so am clueless.

I did a quick google but it's just throwing back lots of links to agencies. I realise that an agency is probably the way to do this, but is there any consensus on which agencies are better?

Any advice gratefully appreciated!

Is it definitely an au pair they need rather than a nanny? They generally look after school age children for 25-30 hours a week.

Many people who post here get their au pairs from au pair world, your friend could easier recruit from where she is living now.

@underneaththeash - that's what they've said. Ok, so Au Pair World is the best place to find an au pair to work in the UK? Are there UK based agencies that are reputable too?

We used Au Pair world to find our au pair & it's worked well so far.

I also found au pair world good
