CM Club - What state should I be in when mindee is dropped off VERY early!

I have new mindees that have just started, and they are dropped here at 7am (older children (8,9,11)- now I am up and dressed (no make up but showered etc), but my two LO's are normally just getting up!

Is this ok? Or should I get my LO's up earlier so they are already washed etc (that isn't going to happen!)

Thanks

God no! One of mine arrives at 6.30am and I am like you, up & dressed. Rest of the house still sleeping! I don't think they can expect more than that tbh. (There have been times when I've opened the door with pj's on and bed hair too, since the door bell woke me up!)

PinkChick · 06/06/2007 09:23

no, you shouldnt disturb your own family.
i reg stasrt work at 6-6.30 and had the same thoughts but i leave dd in bed as long as she needs giving us enbough time to get ready for school, dp gets up at 7pm and dresses before he comes down even if just in shorts and t-shirt, but im always dressed, not always'made up' at that time tho.

Mine gets here at 7am and I am ready but my family isn't - they are normally still in bed or in PJs...

I had one mindee. It was just school run anyway.
I woke up always 30 min. early but I think they expected my family will be ready when they arrived as well.
What I will say your home your family if they want to drop off the kids IN YOUR HOME at 7 am you don't have to change your family life routine.
They must be happy that you provide very early service and hope they appreciate this. I think this is more than important than MONEY

my family only get up at 8am
suppose they are older (9 and 10) so dont need me to do anything for them
i start work at 7.30am if they need me b4 this time i normally answer the door in my pj's

You are the only person who needs to be up, dressed and, hopefully, vaguely awake. It isn't a problem for me if the mindees turn up in PJs if they come early.

I start work at 7.30. I am dressed and ready for action. My husband has already left for work. I wake up my two dds before I start work and they know they must get dressed before they come downstairs.

I feel you need to be professional and although my family are not the childminder, there needs to be a code of conduct when I am working.

As well as the being dressed when downstairs, they are also not allowed to eat anything I couldn't offer my mindees, sweets for example.

Its our house so why should our family be up and dressed especially in the hols? I am always up and dressed as I start at 7am if I have the baby but as I pick a mindee up from nursery at 12.30 some days (in hols anyway) I can be slobbing around in pjs when I don't have the baby.

Last week the mindee's mum said he was going to be here about 12 but he didn't turn up till 3.15! I explained that I was annoyed having to stay in waiting as I was going to take mine and her lad out to an event at the library, but because he was late and she did not let me know, it was not fair on my 5 yr old who had waited to go to this event. I think sometimes they forget we have families and think its just their children. Anyone else have this with their parents? You try and plan your day and week in half terms and they mess it up!
