Aupair health insurance / Aupair NIC

Dear ladies,
We are about to send an offer to our first au pair (who we found through Aupair World UK) and at our last Skype call she asked about Heath insurance. She is from an EU country, so we asked her to organise her EU Health Insurance Card, but I‘d like to ask those of you that have experience - should we be looking at insuring the au pair privately?
How does access to Health works for aupairs under the NHS?

My other question is about NIC. We will be offering out Aupair £120 per week for 25hrs for 1 child. This is under the taxable minimum, but do we need to ask her to register and get NI no?Do we need to pay NIC for her? I’m not clear on our obligations regarding this.

Any will be much appreciatedGrin

I was looking into this recently. I don't think they're classed as employed so no NIC:

We just registered our au pairs with our local GP practice. We gave her a letter from us confirming she lives with us as our au pair and/ or I think her au pair contract. Our second au pair had to go to the doctors at some point and there were no issues with the NHS. No need for private health insurance.

Thank you both for the replies. This makes no insurance and no NIC makes things easier!
