Temporary nanny for one week?

Does anyone know whether it is possible to hire a nanny just for one week? I need to go away with my husband for one week during term time so cannot take my 3 kids. Is it possible to hire a nanny for just one week (older kids: 16, 14, 12).

You can ask nanny agencies but it sounds like you may be wanting someone who would work 24 hours per day. That would be known as Proxy Parenting and it is possible to get but may be very costly.

Maybe contact an agency to see if you could get someone who could come in around 5/6pm and sleep overnight then leave in the morning when the kids go to school. That might mean someone with a live out nanny job could pick up some extra money and it would cost you less. Otherwise could they stay with friends? We had DD's friend once for a week aged around 12/13 when her parents went on holiday, her older sister stayed elsewhere. At that age having an extra in term time is no big deal as Mon-Fri they are busy. I would be a lot less keen in school holidays 😁

At those ages a "nanny" would be totally humiliating. Please don't.

Arrange for each of them to stay with a friend for a week, and offer the parents £100 for their keep and some extra treats. £300 would be a tiny fraction of the cost of a live-in nanny for the week.
