How much do people pay au pairs nowadays?

I'm also struggling to find an au pair. I keep on having them flake out/not turn up to interviews. Of those that I have to interviewed, and offered the job to, I have had them all reject us.

We live in central London, and no driving or weekend work is required. I'm willing to accept any nationality or age, as long as they can legally work in England. I'm really not being fussy!

I have 3 children, so I'm not sure if that is what puts people off. We are offering what I believe is a generous package, but am curious as to what others offer.

We offer £116/week (min amount before having to register as an employer), offer gym membership and au pair has a car to use. She also has her own studio. We have a train into London, but its not that frequent and although our location is quite scenic, there isn't much to do in the village and you need to drive everywhere.

We also have 3 children and ask for 27 hours a week plus 2 babysits.

One thing that I have found that attracts candidates is allowing them to work elsewhere. As long as they register as a second job (I ask for a copy of their first pay slip to ensure that's been done). It doesn't affect their role at all and I make sure they know that our family comes first and they may need to cancel the other job in an emergency.

I'm in London Zone 2 and pay £100/week for 25 hours. It's wrap around care for school/nursery/summer holiday club so she is free during the day to visit London or go to English class. I have 2 boys.

I'd agree 3 children + 30 odd hours probably commands a slightly higher rate. I've had no problem attracting people in their mid 20s.
