My boys are 12 months apart and I'm due to go back to work in September. I work evenings and can start at 6pm each evening but it would be much better if I could start at 4. We have no space for an aupair and are a low income family. We have no family support. They will be 8m and 1y8m when I go back to work

What hours do you need childcare? 4pm till when? Is that just Mon-Fri or do days vary, are some weekend?

We... so you have a husband/partner, are their working hours fixed and thus you know when they would be home each evening to take over from someone?

I missed off so many details. It'll be four till six (or rather 3.30 till 5.45) probably four days a week but likely till seven a couple of those days. Mon-Thurs would be ideal.

I do have a husband. He's home either 4.40 or 5.40 (one week earlies, one week lates) but starts studying in September so will use the extra time to study if he gets home early.

I don't particularly want to hire a teen babysitter due to the fact that it would be caring for a baby and young toddler

10 hours per week split over Mon-Thur may not appeal to anyone. You can try advertising for a part-time
nanny but the hours is very low.

I do an 11 hour a week job but all those hours are on the same day, so I can work the other days elsewhere.

Put a listing on Childcare.co.uk and see if you get any interest from anyone local.

It's so tricky, isn't it. I need to work and my work is limited to after school hours. I suppose it might need to be childminder

I don't think you'll manage to get a childminder for those hours either. They are generally only allowed to have a small number of younger children and it won't be worth their while if its only a couple of hours a day.

I'd just start at 6pm.
