One of the mums from school with whom im really friendly(go to groups, her dd and mine are best pals) 'picked my brains' about child care the other day, as my dd will now go early into reception with her dd, she wanted to know about after school care and said she would be speaking tp her dh that night, would i think about it too?..
This morn, as she has just ahd a baby, i asked what she would be doig with her if i would be having older tot and she said she hadnt thought about it for some reason and would i be able to have both..now older girl would be 3-5.30 mon-fri and baby would be 12.00-5.30 monday to friday and will/may start in sept..so..my dd is going up to reception early so will be classed as rising 5, leaving and under 5 place free..i have mindee one every day when mum not on shifts, mindee 2 every friday and mindee 3 one day per week but varies from week to week which day..meaning there is a poss i would effectivly have/need 4 under 5 places one afternoon per week, two at most..dya think ofsted would go for this?????
also dp keps telling me to sit back and think cos ill have

dd(4),
MIndee 1 (3),
maybe one of current babies(under2),
new mindee starting sept after school (9)
The baby we're discussing (6months)
older sister (5)

on afternoon school run? its not too much is it? dont use car but wouldnt get them all in anyway, so would be 15min walk through houses back here and all kids are 'good' ie: wont run of and into road(i hope!)

Gotta be worth a try with Ofsted. After school, you've got double buggy (under 2 & 6mths) 3 year old, 5 year old and dd holding buggy, obviously only at roads! 9 year old just - there! That's feesible.
My worst day for school run used to be Wednesday. I had single buggy, 2 x 3 year olds, 1 x 6, 2 x 9 and 1 11 year old! We only had one busy road to cross, with lolly pop man, then one road into mine, no-one else about by the time we got there. The worst bit was getting everyone through the front door! Especially in winter! Imagine all the coats, hats, scarves and gloves! Then there's the demands for drinks and biscuits before you've got your own coat off. I get in from school at 3.30 and I swear it was at least 3.50 before everyone was settled!
Ultimately, I think/know it is do-able though!

Thanks MML, yeah i do have double buggy, think i would use wrist straps with 3, 4,5 yr olds to be safe and 9 yr old can walk/help me

I do a school run with a rather large clutch of children sometimes (more than you'd have!) - it is do-able, just needs organisation.

My ds started school full time 2 weeks after his 4th birthday last September and was so knackered everyday! Walking home used to be quite tricky with 2 toddlers in the double buggy and a tired, grumpy 4 yr old who had to walk. Our walk is 15 mins too. Although, occasionally, I'd walk another boy (from his year) home and on those days he walked much better because he had his friend to walk with.

I'm not sure what ofsted would agree (I've just put in my 1st variation request but haven't heard from them yet!).

I hope I'm not sounding too negative, just telling you my experiences with my ds. Now he's settled at school that kind of arrangement would be do-able for us but I don't think I'd have been able to do it when he first started.
