My DD is starting school in September and since she was a baby has been in a nursery setting. I've decided on using a childminder rather than after school club as it's cheaper and has a more homey feel however I'm a bit nervous as DD has only met childminder a couple of times and aside from two two hour settling sessions will go straight into pickups and drop offs with her. Is this what people usually do in these cases or should I book more time with her over the Summer to get more familiar? Thanks in advance

If your DD is used to nursery she will be fine starting with a CM. One or two visits before starting is fairly standard. However, it would also be fine for you to request a visit, say, the week before school starts just to familiarize yourselves with CM. If your CM is a decent one they will be used to welcoming new children and settling them in.

Im a cm and usually would ask for a couple of sessions before they are due to start.
