Childcare vouchers

Hi, i currently pay for the childcare using the gov tax free scheme. My husband and I both work FT.

However, next year I plan to leave work and concentrate fully on my LO who has SN. I can’t yet afford to leave work until we clear some debts.

What I’m wondering is if my husband signs up for the childcare voucher scheme now via his employer, could he just sit on it so to speak and then use it next year? He would have to sign up soon as it closes in October.

We won’t be eligible for Tax free if I’m not working, but currently that saves us more than his voucher scheme can (my employer doesn’t offer it). We don’t claim any benefits.

Thanks!

You can sign up to the scheme and make a very small annual payment something like £10 to keep it active. It always was applicable for all registered care up to the age of 18 (check its not closing earlier completely). Some schemes like Edenred and childcare vouchers operate a discount saving scheme called Advantages which has all sorts of discounts like 4% on sainsburys, costa, tescos, holidays, cinemas, many major stores holiday companies with periodically special discounts of over 10%. so worth it if yours is one of these.

Thanks Jannier, that sounds a good scheme! This one is called care 4

I don’t think they offer anything extra?
