This will be the first time I have been fairly full in the holidays, I'm quite restricted on time for the most part, the only day we can actually do a trip would be on the monday when i will have 4/5 children ages ranging from 20mths to 8 years we will only be going out from 9am to 3pm I was thinking of cadburys world but I just looked at prices and i'd have to ask for at least £14 from the 3 older children for us to go, I think that's alot to ask from parents isn't it?

I was thinking of just getting the paddling pool and water slide out but having seen the weather lately i'm not sure I can expect to do that as a back up plan anymore.

I'm going to buy some games for the older children to play in the garden.

I've also got a friend who is good at origarmi (sp?) so i thought about asking her to come and show them how to do that? Plus craft activities?

We will go to the park a couple of times at least and maybe soft play if it's bad weather but this again means asking for money from parents. Nothing is cheap these days the older ones expect so much, I can't afford to take tham anywhere without asking for the money as we are moving house and are broke.

Sorry if I've waffled on any ideas are gratefully recieved.

what about going out to park for a picnic and feed the ducks?

With older ones, take them to the library... rent a dvd (in our library they are about £1 for a week) and make popcorn and have a ciniema afternoon at home!

We are lucky enough to live near the beach so for the price of a car parking ticket we spend lots of lovely days there in the summer!

with my charges this half term we are
meeting a nanny friend and charges at our hosue 1 day... off to the park and will probably nip down to the beach + do lunch at ours ( a 'free' day)

a big day out at fishersfarm a big nanny day out with at least 6 other nannies + 12 charges

A morning / picnic at a little farm thats near a nanny friend then back to hers for a play

Thomas the tank engine is coming to a miniture railway nearby, and as i have 2 thomas fans im off there with a nanny friend as well!

We are very busy and our half term has been fully booked for the past month!

(now our summer holiday is booking up fast!)

Coombe Abbey in Coventry, Picnic and PLay day
Gorse Hill City Farm (£1 per child entry!!) usually make info books with questions for older ones.
Always ring soft play in nuneaton and get together with other Cm to get discount rate so ends up being £3 head including lunch!

Bonkerz yes i'm just down the road from you, thanks for ideas

We are limited because of the times i have the children...

mindee 1 arrives at 7.45
mindee 2 & 3 arrive at 8.30
mindee 4 arrives at 11.30

mindee 1 goes home 1.30
mindee 2,3 and 4 go home at 3pm

This is not everyday and I may have another one to throw into the mix by the end of next week to come on alternate days.

Basically lots of comings and going prevent us from going anywhere for very long, also 2 youngest children sleep from 12-2ish so we can really only go out in the morning from 8.30am to 11.30. Then we need to be here for lunch and naps and pick up, by 2pm when we could go back out again it's only going to be an hour until all mindees go home.

There is a downside to paying on a per mile basis.

If the nanny likes to get out and about (I am such a nanny and think nothing of driving 60+ miles in a day to visit somewhere), then it can get very expensive for the employer. The employer then in turn restricts the mileage the nanny can do, thus restricting the children in what they like to do.

Opps sorry wrong thread!

bonkerz · 19/05/2007 18:10

I have one child who goes at 1.30 BUT i do ask mum if she can stay on if we go somewhere and mum pays half fee!!! Im lucky i suppose!! If mum doesnt want her to stay she generally picks up from where ever we are!!!!!

If I want to go out for the day somewhere and a child is due to be collected earlier than we would be back, I just ask if I can "borrow" the child for a bit longer. I don't charge, because it is my choice.
