CM, Need some advice

I am going to be looking for a cm to basically be emergency care for when I'm working and parents can't look after them (I'm a Doula, so it may be a day, but obv. not every day!).
So, what few things I need help on!

  1. How much would you charge
  2. Do the amount of children a cm is allowed take into emergency care?

firstly were are you? as this varies quite a bit.
you would be ebst going direct or through cis as emergency childcare charge a lot(ive never had an enquiry from them as they bump your fee up to take their cut!)

i would prob charge same as part timer which is £4 per hour between 8.30-5.30 then £6 before or after that time inc overnight stay

As what you are looking for is ad hoc care, most CMs would probably do it if they have the space.

The only way you could, hopefully, guarantee a CM can do this is if you can find a childminder who hasn't got their full quota of children, and maybe doesn't want to on a permanent basis, but who would be happy to have yours occasionally.

Another option is a CM who has an assistant they could call on at short notice.

A childminder would not usually be able to have your children if it took them over their numbers (as it wouldn't be "emergency care" for the CM, only for you).

I charge the same amount for everyone (full-time, part-time, ad hoc).

(Just noticed that you said "them" - how many and how old are your children?)

My dc are 3 and 1. Going to get in contact with CSIW (I'm in South Wales).

maybe get 2 or 3 cm's in mind then if one is full, you have alternatives?
