Having problems with new house being tiny.

Dd's need seperate rooms for lots of reasons but The box room is tiny tiny with 2 big wooden steps (so could have a bed built over it)

Im thinking I need to have room for my dd's cot and 2 travel cots - this is where i'm struggling for room. Any ideas?????

Well, I have one sleep in my spare room, and the other will only sleep in the pram, so he is either asleep in the kitchen / hall !

Sorry no help at all!

One childminder I know uses her hall and another uses her conservatory!

HUmmmm trying to think.............

We already have bunk beds (which wouldn't fit in the box room but we could build a bed in there to go over the steps) so dd1 could have that and play under it, dd2 can't have a bed in that room because of her age and the fact if we put a normal bed in there there would be no room cot cots so dd1 would still end up sharing with mindees.

So bottom line is dd1 needs her own room, the only way she will 100% have her own room is if we build her a bed in the small room.
Right? no getting round it?

Then dd2 would have the original bunk beds in her room which we would have to take the ladder off to stop her climbing it. then we could move her into the bottom bunk meaning we would only need 1-2 travel cots (instead of having 3 cots and 2 beds in 1 room plus wardrobes and draws and toys)

Any ideas??

i heard someone(maybe on here?) had her own bedroom registered during inspection/or applied for it to be used so mindees could sleep in travel cot in there through day?..would that be any good?, mine sleep either on sofa in front/quiet room and other two always sleep in pushchair while were out.

LoveMyGirls · 15/05/2007 16:12

Our room is not going to be big enough, we already have a kingsize bed and triple wardrobe and draws - i dont think we'll get all that in let alone a cot i think we'll end up giving our wardrobe to the girls to share tbh.

We really want to move but the rooms are so much smaller than where we are already, the plus's are (or were meant to be)

the girls get a room each so dd2 doesnt wake dd1
theres a downstairs loo
room for 3 cars on the drive
downstairs is slightly bigger
new kitchen

ah you'll adjust chick, is area better too? and are all your mindees coming with you?..they always say, dont buy a house to fit round your furniture!, we moved here last july and bought cheap n chearful stripped wood wardrobes until we can afford the fitted ones we want, we sold table as it wouldnt fit in breakfast room and thankfully due to grants i got starting out, was able to buy new one so mindees could eat together..see if theres anything in the way of grants to help you set up the new house????

LoveMyGirls · 15/05/2007 16:41

We're only moving over the road, so same area. We have zero money and the rent is an extra £100 a month, mindee's are coming so i only have 1 week to get sorted luckily everything should go ok with ofsted (so they say)

Someone did mention the princes trust for young people?? anyone know anything about that? I'm 25.

Just looked on the website and it looks like its aimed at people who want a loan to start a business, i've already started and can't afford to pay back a loan.

sorry to be ignorant, but why are you moving over road for more rent?..is it forbigger downstairs space?
i would try people like business link, surestart, c.i.s let them know there are jobs that need to be done and can you have any help?

Katymac · 15/05/2007 20:42

Is there any rom downstairs for cots?

DO they all slepp at the same time? could you stagger the sleeps?

mogs0 · 15/05/2007 20:49

I put 1 mindee in my ds' room and 1 in the sitting room to sleep. Both in travel cots. I either sit in my bedroom or potter about in the kitchen.

dmo · 15/05/2007 21:11

both mindees that sleep in the day sleep in the prams eirther in the hall or front room

old mindee used to use the travel cot which i put up in my room

Loshad · 15/05/2007 21:15

are both your dd's still at home during the day - when Ds1 was at childminders she used toi pop his travel cot up in her dd1's room - she was at school during the day - It took up most of the floor space but not a problem as she wasn't there (one of those easy unfold types in abag - I provided it for her)

At the moment we live in a tiny 2 bed house, the house we are due to move to has a downstairs loo and 3 bedrooms and space for 3 cars on drive.

In dd's room at the minute we have bunk bed, 1 proper cot and 1 travel cot, when i had 3 under 15mths that all slept at the same time i put 1 cot in my room and swapped sheets so mindee could use dd2's proper cot so dd2 slept in my room (as its not registered) iyswim.

The new house although is has 3 bedrooms they are all very small, we wont even be able to fit a travel cot in our room, the ideal thing is if dd1 (who desperatly wants a room to herself) has the box room and we do it as best we can and dd2 shres the bigger room with mindee's as they all sleep at the same time though i currently only have 2 sleeping in the day but am hoping to get a baby in a few weeks time.

Dd1 is at school in the day.

mindee1 sleeps in ds's cot just have to strip bed and remake with his dedicated bedding this was all done during my inspection and there was no problem with it mindee3 always sleeps in buggy on the lunchtime school run in hols she does same as mindee1 as different days

Shoshable · 15/05/2007 22:09

Ive always put mindees in the same room line all three travel cots up next to each other in spare room, bit of a aqueeze but I can just about get round them, thay all go down at 12.30isn and get up at about 2.15ish, when I had 3 three year old DH built aside to the top bunk, we took the ladder away so they couldny climb out and the eldaet went in the top, next in the bottom and smallest in tha biggest travel cot.
