Hello everyone! I need suggestions on how can I track nannies of my child even if I'm at work. Just to make sure my child are safe. :)

How do you mean track them? Monotoring their every move via CCTV and tracking devices? You’ll struggle to find a nanny who is happy to sign up to that (and you will have to tell them), in all the years I nannied I only knew of two nannies who had CCTV in the workplace and that wasn’t because of any concerns about them, it was because of the families needing lots of security due to being high profile.

Totally normal for nanny to send photos/updates on location throughout the day (I’ve never been asked for this but have done it anyway as I think it’s nice for the parents to see the fun their children are having), but if you don’t fully trust the person looking after your child then you shouldn’t be employing them. Gather lots of references and follow them up properly.

You can’t do this. If you don’t trust the person looking after your child then you need to find someone you can trust. I think some nurseries have cameras so you can see your child via a website but never heard of anything like this for home childcare. You can ask for (and will probably get anyway) a breakdown of food eaten etc and activities they have done but that’s about it.

Take time recruiting someone you trust. If they are driving your child anywhere, mileage log will indicate where they went. The parent nanny relationship is based on trust - they need to trust you not to micromanage, to pay on time and legally, you need to trust them to care for your child, to care for your home, to do the right thing in any situation that may arise. The use of hidden cameras, gps trackers, do not promote trust.

Have you read or watched (It's on NetFlix) The Circle. In that they proposed a chip to be inserted into a child's bone to track them from a very young age. Far fetched idea perhaps but there are GPS child trackers available now.

Find iPhone will find someone's phone with their consent - so you could track nanny's location, if they have approval. Other apps like Glimpse will share location for a period of time.

Spend time recruiting well, getting to know the nanny and trust them to care for your child.

Just a thought, how does knowing where they are, mean you know they are safe, rather 5han being looked after by someone you trust?

Have you a reason not to trust your nanny?

get a nanny cam?

PalePinkSwan · 17/04/2018 14:02

If your nanny agrees, you could do “find my friends” on your phones so that you know where she is? But I imagine she’ll want to turn it off outside working hours so it’s a bit of hassle for her.

what do you mean by "track nannies"? if it's about monitoring their work then I guess u have to acquire cctv in your home. If u wanna check about your child's location, I think there are many gps tracking application and even gps tracker software/devices that are used by many today.

I can't seem to see the relevance of this post. You hired someone you trust to take care of you children yet it looks like you're suspicious of them. But if that's the case, why not put a cam in your house?
