Pay advice for au pair leaving and finding a replacement

Hello there
We have employed our fantastic au pair since mid Nov 2017. We were on holiday over Dec/Jan for 4 weeks and paid her in full. She did go on holiday in Europe while we were away. She cared for the dc over one weekend in Jan while dh and I were away and I paid her for this over and above her week’s pay.
In Feb we were away again for one week and paid her in full.
She has decided to return home for a nursery school job / start uni at the end of May.
We will be away for one week in May and I won’t pay her for this week....correct? As we have paid her in full for more than the 4 weeks 😳 I am not overly concerned about this as she is SUPER!
I am of the opinion that we have more than fulfilled our end of the deal... am I correct?!
Secondly, would anyone be able to suggest a good agency or do you advise doing this privately.... there are a myriad of agency reviews online and not all very convincing 😏
TIA x

I was under the impression if you travel you still pay the au pair. Unless you stated this before they were hired. It is not the au pairs fault you are taking holidays and traveling. Why should her pay be cut because of this? Perhaps you could have her make up the hours when you are there or have her do a list of house chores to justify paying while away?

Steen - You need to pay her for that week, its your choice to go away.

Start looking now on au pair world, it can take a little time to get the right person and for them to get all their checks done.
