I will be having my inspection next week and i am trying to find guidance on toothbrushing, I am a member of the SCMA and through their information i have a website address for information but it comes up as a dud!
I can't seem to find it on the Scottish Executive website and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction?

I don't currently do it with current mindees because of their age etc but have discussed with parents but also because not totally clued up on the proper way to to do it. Any help would be great! Even just to show i am willing to if i have the right info. IYKWIM!
THANK YOU!!

Look at british dental association - there is something on there which supports not doing it at lunchtime (can't remember what)

mrspitt - the Care Commission lady told me that if I didn't already do toothbrushing then it was probably best not to start as there are so many rules to it. Guidelines are to brush morning and night, so unless you are doing overnights then surely morning and night falls outwith your hours? During my last inspeciton, she (a different Care commission lady) was happy enough that I didn't do tooth brushing but that I stuck to the guidlines re juice/snacks etc. Doesn't answer your question of course.....

Thanks for your help!

It was mentioned at last inspection and i thought i should look at the possibilty of doing it but if what you say is fine, then i'm happy with that!

Won't hold you to it Mawbroon!

It's not the first time SCMA has sent details of website for stuff and it doesn't work.
Thanks Katymac, i did go on Childsmile website which gave sone info just thought it may have to a specific booklet etc.
Oh weel, i have tried!

some nurseries have started brushing teeth after lunch but the advice I was given suggests this is not necessary.

I don't seem to have the email on my pc any more but the advice I was given was to leave at least 30 mins after a meal before brushing teeth (none of the children arrive early enough to eat breakfast and have 30 mins gap before brushing teeth b4 school run). also i was told it is not necessary to brush teeth after every meal - twice a day is sufficient. Suggestion was given to provide cheese at end of lunch instead.
