Hi,
I’m self employed and am looking for a little help with the children - approx 8 hours spread over 2 days. This could easily be within school hours.

We live in a cheap area in the South East.

Do you think I’d get laughed at for offering £ 8.50/h gross? I know these boards are full of people saying £13/h gross is the norm.

What I’m hoping is that this would appeal to a parent with children at school. I’d also be happy to accept a child comin along too if under school age for same rate. I really just want someone kind, fun and safe.

I feel the level of responsibility is considerably less that a nanny who has to essentially parent a child for the full working week.

This rate is what a room leader gets in the local nurseries.

Am I deluding myself?

I think that’s only realistic if it’s a nanny bringing their own child, or maybe somebody with no experience or training.

Nannies are paid more than nursery workers, that’s just how it is.

I'd state that in your advert and see who applies. It might be a little tricky as 4h/day isn't very much and you can't compare it to a 'room leader' - a full time employee with pension, career progression opportunities etc.

I would do it, if it was Cash in hand and i could also have my child whilst nannying ^^
