CM Club - would you do a daily diary?

Hi

New mindee started today, just 2.45-6pm. I write daily diary for my under 5's but didn't use to for my school age mindees. This little one is only 3 so is under 5, just attending short hours and because it falls around dinner time, a lot of the time will be just free play.

Would you still do a diary?

TIA

I don't for a 4yo for the same sort of times

i would, just a brief mention of WHAT they actually did will be nice for the parent as theyll be wondering what they have been up to without them, will be a nightmare for you tho getting it done in time for home

I do a diary for all pre-schoolers, even if they're part-time.

The schoolchildren have been known to put together one of their own from time to time, or we've done one together (and made it all up ... things like tunnelling under the fence to next door's garden, shaving the guinea-pig etc).

I do a diary for all under fives. Currently one of these only comes for up to 3 hours a day before or after preschool so the entries are rather short - mostly just what he ate(or didn't) & anything funny he said & what he played with.

I'd like my CM to do that for me actually. DD is 22m. But for some reasons I don't think they will. Should they do that if I ask for one?

I don't want a million details but it would be nice to know what she's done during the day, if they went out or not, if she talked, what she ate etc.

what do you think? AIBU? should I forget about it? (DD is very happy there.)

Thanks everyone, I decided to do one in the end. She doesn't stay for dinner but I mentioned what we got up to.

PippiLangstrump - I've always done a diary for all my other under 5 mindees and think it's even more important when they are still too young to communicate. I detail things like nappy changes (times, wet or poo), feed times and amount of milk drunk (for babies)/what eaten, how much etc, then what we've done that day. It's nice for me to be able to see progress myself i.e. never used to eat xyz but will now I'd ask for one if I were you!!

thanks looney I think I might. I am a bit of a wimp with this stuff and I don't know why. deep down I know it's the most normal thing to wanting to know what your child has been doing 10 hours. don't know why I am scared to ask.

looneytune · 04/05/2007 12:05

You should never be scared to ask ANYTHING, it's important to have a good relationship with your CM aswell as her actually being a good CM iyswim

I do a diary for my two mindees girls aged 7 and 9. Parents really appreciate it. Just letting them know what activities they did and what activities are planned for the following week. Only have them part time.
