Additional support for twins

My girls are 9 weeks old and I'm looking for someone to help for approximately 6 hours four days a week. I'm so confused as to whether I'm looking for a doula, nursery nurse, nanny or babysitter? The girls very rarely sleep at the same time and after 9weeks of no more than 3 hours sleep in 24 hours, I'm going a little nutty. I'd ideally like someone who has experience with multiples and could confidently take over a feed so I can get a block of sleep. I'm in Bristol and family all live in Devon so they help out where they can but if anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate them.

It may be worth contacting your local children's centre to see if there is Sure start centre who have volunteers that support parents in the early months including multiple births. Otherwise a nanny is a good choice if you want someone to come in. I'm not sure what experience and training a Doula has as I don't believe its a formal qualification and more of what used to be called a Mothers help, forgive me if I've got it wrong.

Thanks. I'll have a look at Sure start.

A night nurse? Or possibly mother’s-help?

Try contact Tamba

Maybe contact your local authority. An ex colleague of mine had help with her twins from college girl getting qualified in childcare. I think she came 2 days a week for 12 weeks. The support wasn't publicized but on offer to those that asked.
