Shes 47, very modern and trendy, will have loads of flowers from her family.

I just want something simple but thoughtful from us for about £10-£15

If you don't know her very well on a personal level, safest bet always top quality beautiful short-lived gifts like chocolates, mini hamper, flowers, something drinkable

mosschops30 · 27/04/2007 21:29

ooh lovely photoframes, thats a great idea thanks

When I used a CM we bought her a Rose Bush for the garden. (It had the same name as DD)CM was in tears.

bonkerz · 28/04/2007 07:11

Maybe a voucher for facial of nail manicure at local salon? That always goes down with all the childminders i know!

Katymac · 28/04/2007 07:26

I like the plant idea

One Christmas we had 17 boxes of biscuits/chocolates

One of my friends always buys me a toy for the playroom ......I'm not so sure about that

A voucher is nice too

cece · 28/04/2007 07:49

I always used to get mine a plant for her garden. They are now quite mature and she shows me how well they are doing whenever we visit her (no longer use her as we moved away)

dmo · 28/04/2007 11:39

i got a very posh cup once (cost £15) feel very special when i have a brew from it

a plant is a nice gift or a nice pen

SherlockLGJ · 28/04/2007 11:49

Well my CM's DH was not impressed with the first gift I ever gave her.

princesscc · 28/04/2007 11:49

I got this as gift from one of my families recently. Bit more than you want to pay on this particular site, but I have seen it cheaper elsewhere.

Tan1959 · 28/04/2007 11:54

One of my mindees recently gave me a lovely box of chocs for my birthday - oh they were so yummy but because I scoffed the lot to myself (although I did shout up the stairs to my sons, in a whisper I ashamedly admit, that chocs were down stairs ) it set off my IBS - that'll teach me!!

Two of my mindees left for Nursery recently and parents gave me a joint pressie; it was a voucher for manicure etc at one of the local salons; it was such a lovely gift to give and so thoughtful (I can only say that they must have seen the state of my hands)! Can't wait to use it

Tan1959 · 28/04/2007 11:55

Oh that's lovely Princesscc

Need to be careful with ornaments though.

I would not liek an ornament

funnypeculiar · 28/04/2007 22:12

jewellery? (if you're going into monsoon anyway, accessorise have some nice stuff atm...

maximummummy · 29/04/2007 00:06

have to agree

I HATE ORNAMENTS

bloody dust magnets !!!!

i always love a voucher - boots is good

since becoming a c/m i get really dry hands from the constant hand washing so a really nice hand cream would be an idea
