Too many childcare vouchers - what to do?

Totally my own fault but I have accrued too many childcare vouchers and am unlikely to get through them all by the time my child turns 5. Is there any way of getting them back as cash? I know they can be used for wrap around care after the child turns 5 but even that is unlikely to use them all up.

Do you not need them to pay for after school or holiday clubs too?

FrostyThirties0 · 19/01/2018 12:53

Can you ask the voucher company to refund them?

greensnail · 19/01/2018 12:59

How many have you got? Wraparound care and holiday clubs can really add up. Can you not just stop paying into them and see how you go?

thepatchworkcat · 19/01/2018 13:00

I don’t think you can turn them back into cash as far as I’m aware. Have another baby? Grin

You can use the vouchers for any Ofsted resisted setting up to the age of 18...so holiday cover after school breakfast cover form clubs or child-minders....there are 14 weeks a year a child is out of school.

trilbydoll · 19/01/2018 19:52

My colleague uses hers for gym classes, there's all kinds of places that accept them.

Believeitornot · 19/01/2018 19:53

Just how many do you have Shock how cheap is wrap around care and holiday clubs?

3boys3dogshelp · 19/01/2018 19:54

We’re using ours for holiday clubs and a tutor (ofsted registered) after a similar —fuck up— miscalculation.

LML83 · 19/01/2018 19:55

I think it is employers discretion it is a hassle to process but I think it can be done. Speak nicely to your payroll dept and see what they say.

xyzandabc · 19/01/2018 19:57

They don't have to be used before the child turns 5. Keep them and use them for holiday clubs or wrap around care or just fun holiday activities once child is at school.

workproblem · 19/01/2018 20:22

You can use them until the September after your child reaches age 15 for ofsted registered care.

OlennasWimple · 19/01/2018 20:24

Summer camps will eat their way through those in no time, don't worry Grin

mammmamia · 19/01/2018 20:25

It's easy to use them up. I had also accrued loads and I am using them up on holiday clubs. I have 2 kids at school though and work pretty much full time so I need the childcare.
Can also use them for after school club.

thisagain · 19/01/2018 20:28

My employer got them refunded but it has to be done through them so they can take the tax off.

Sunnyshores · 19/01/2018 20:38

I am the employer (and partner the employee) but our voucher company wouldnt repay them.

Do you have Supercamps near you? They take vouchers and do a fantastic range of different holiday clubs for all ages. We also use them for music lessons at school, riding lessons at a private school, swimming lessons.

ProseccoLush · 19/01/2018 20:39

Watch out if you don’t spend them for a while though. We had over £1600 with Sodexo that we didn’t spend for around a year and they emptied the account as part of their ‘auditing’ process!!!
We got it credited back but it was a real farce and happened again at a later date. Thankfully nearly all spent now. We’ve used them for holiday sports club and a football club at a local sports centre so lots of ways to spend them.

Cosmia · 19/01/2018 21:10

That's super helpful, thanks very much all. I was genuinely mulling over a 3rd child in a desperate attempt to use them up. :-)
Supercamps looks like a brilliant option and there is one near us. They have 2 guaranteed customers for the next 12 years!

Camp Beaumont take them as well.
