Childminders working together.. what are the rules?

The situation is this... a parent has asked me if I can look after her baby under a year old from the end of July. I already have one under a year but she will be 1 in September.

This period where I would not be able to look after the new baby and the current baby just happens to be over the school summer holidays.

A childminding friend of mine has said that she doesn't have any little ones during school holidays and therefore would be willing to help out during that time. Would she need to fill out a CM2 form for me and would I need to fill one out for her???

what i would do is get parent to fill in all the info for the other childminder then in sept fill it all out for you
just pretend she is with the other childminder and then she will change to you in sept

Sorted. Ofsted have said its ok for the other childminder to be a named assistant and help over the few weeks between me taking on the new mindee and my dd2's birthday. Have not got the contract signed and sealed yet, but hopefuly will next week.

Also, more good news for me (after 4 and a half months of part-time minding and panicking over how to make ends meet), I will be looking after a full-time one year old for 6 weeks starting in 2 weeks time. So, will be ok hopefully!

And I am finally going to court to claim back the 2 months monies owed to me by the parent of an ex-mindee.

Have you sorted out how much you will be paying your assistant? Hope you don't end up paying more than you earn.

I guess what you will need to think about Nally is whether your assistant will remain self employed for this purpose or whether you are going to 'employ' her? Think you will then need Employers Insurance? need to pay her Tax and Insurance?

Will you have a Contract with her and what will happen if she is ill? Will you pay her sick pay; will she be entitled to holiday pay for the short time that she is with you?

Not absolutely sure about the CM2 form though but think so
