Nothing, I do term-time or holiday-only contracts.

mogs0 · 19/04/2007 20:46

If you do term time only contracts, do you work out the fees for the year and get the same payment every month?

LoveMyGirls · 19/04/2007 20:57

Does it make a difference if the child of the teacher is under 5?

i've got holiday only kids in the 5-8 bracket and term time only kids in the 5-8 bracket but this is for a baby so i could be earning full pay in holidays if i took on a child whose mum/ dad wasn't a teacher.

It makes no difference to me what the age of the child is.

I only charge during the term for my term-time only contracts.

Perhaps I have been really lucky over the years that I haven't had to work too hard at filling my places!

maximummummy · 19/04/2007 21:50

i have a teachers child (2 year old) we have a term-time only contract i don't charge bank hols but i do charge if mindee is ill/doesn't attend. . . i charge the same hourly rate for all children. So in school holidays i work less but earn less

hana · 19/04/2007 21:57

I'm a teacher and have always paid half fees
with regards to paying full rate for bank holidays - I don't have a problem with that, as I'm still paid, so why shouldn't the childminder?

blodwen · 19/04/2007 21:59

I used to charge half fees in school holidays, but in the last couple of years have changed to having 3 weeks fully paid holiday. So I am paid for 39 weeks term time + 3 weeks holiday = 42 weeks, but that is then divided into 12 equal installments. It makes August really good - normal pay and no work - all my parents are teachers.

ayla99 · 19/04/2007 22:04

I charge half fees during holidays for under fives as I only have 3 under 5 spaces and can't afford to tie them up with not being paid in the hols. Because they pay half fees they can use the place in the holidays if they want to - and all of them do from time to time (paying the other half of the fees for the time used).

I have a number of older children age 7 and older who come p/t in termtime - they pay session rates and nothing in the holidays because their place is only available in term-time. I have different children after school than before school, so if they all came in holidays there would be too many.

ThePrisoner · 19/04/2007 22:06

I meant to say that I have had children who require holiday-only care, so it can often work out that my places are filled all the time, or as much I want them to be anyway. (I'm getting so old now, and quite enjoy less raucous school holidays!!)
