Have put in the fugures and am shocked to be paying £350 tax. Last year i didnt pay anything as i had so many outgoings where i had started up, but this year, yes im earning alot more, but obviously didnt put enough expenditure in to bring it right down.

Most childminders i know all say "w never pay tax" so im confused as to what im doing wrong.

The other thing that confused me was paying class 4 NI contributions. I pay class 2 seperately and class 4 was added on as i have earned a certain amount. I never knew thisa happenend????

If only I paid £350 tax per year... oh that would be nice.

mindermummy... did you use an accountant like Brian? If you didn't may be worth considering, to help you keep that tax bill low, by claiming for everything you possibly can.

mindermummy · 17/04/2007 09:02

I didnt use an accountant, as i didnt want to pay one!
Maybe next time i will really put more down on outgoings. m sure there is loads i have bought and could of claimed for.

You should use an accountant for one year so you can see what you should be claiming for, then do the tax return yourself thereafter. Generally if you use a book keeper they should not be too expensive.

mindermummy · 17/04/2007 10:01

I wish there was a big list somewhere of ALL the things you can claim.
